how do you cope with your pure disdain for humanity?

I used to feel that way. I realized that I can't blame the whole of humanity for the way I was treated. There were a chain of people responsible for me becoming that way. My dad, specific teachers, staff, and kids in school. When I got out into the world I realized people treated me better but I was too fucked up from my past experiences to be able to appreciate it.

You know how you watch animals from far away, not trying to disturb them because if you get too close they will just run? That's how I feel about humanity most of the time. I am not equipped to deal with most people socially. But when I see them having happy moments, just being normal, it fascinates me and even sometimes makes me feel happier.

I learned how to be happy in relative isolation with just a few people who can understand me. It's hard because I desperately wanted to be normal. The more I failed the worse I felt. But I learned what's normal for others is alien to me. I had to find my own version of normal.

Read philosophy. Seriously it works. Philosophers all hated their shitty societies more or less

Philosophy helped me distance myself but I started to miss being passionate and engaged in stuff. It's a serious trade-off. You can't genuinely immerse yourself in philosophy unless you're ready to essentially give up your identity for the sake of truth. Sometimes I wish I could go back, and maybe I will one of these days, but for now I'm coping with the renewed mess of emotions and trying to enjoy living in the present for the most part.

It aggravates me, too, how when you do, everyone around you resists it because you're "being weird" and "they don't understand", or "they just want the old you back", or "for you to be happy".
