Just because a government LITERALLY claims it's something doesn't make it true. The fact that wealth isn't distributed to the workers and the government, not the workers, own the factories shows that it's not socialism.

I'm not a socialist or even a leftist but god people act so obtuse about this shit. "But they CLAIMED they were socialist/communist/other-political-ideology!" If they don't actually enact and maintain the defining policies of those ideologies they either weren't a part of it in the first place or have ceased to be. It's not that hard.

If your argument is that the government isn't giving the wealth back to the people, that doesn't mean it's not Socialism, it's just demonstrating one of the worst aspects of Socialism, where a highly powerful government takes all the wealth for themselves.
