Spending an afternoon playing up to the prison is so comfy. The beach level reminds me of growing up in east anglia. The city level reminds me of when I would walk around the shitty bits of town. there'll never be another game more atmospheric.

Game Dungeon may be the comfiest show in existence but it doesn't attract too much of a audience.

And in other april fool's videos that he made, Freeman ends up dying somewhere along the line or ends up in a alternate reality/cloned.

Ever played the leaked hl2 beta? I found a working copy a few years back, its hardly playable though, but there is a cool mod that tried to compile as much of it as they could called "missing information" if you want to play through some of the Beta Experience.

One thing I never liked about HL2 is that it doesn't do a good job explaining things.

How did Gordon get to Eastern Europe?
How did all of his friends at Black Mesa end up in the same place as well?
Where the hell did the Combine come from?
(This one is answered outside of the game, which is a really annoying peeve for me. If you have you rely on external sources to tell the story of your game, you're doing something wrong.

I used to think that City 17 was the only remaining bastion left on earth since no one remembers leaving nor entering the city, and there's little to no contact between cities.

It's because Marc wanted to leave things up to the players imagination. If you ask him these things via email, he'll happily respond pretty quickly and go into detail.

It's assumed that G-Man back in Black Mesa recruited Gordon Freeman after his excellent efforts at repelling the Aliens and HECU. They formed some "contract" and Gordon was placed into status until needed again, hence why if you fuck something up in HL2 you're greeted with a "contract terminated."

I'd assume it's from the constant relocation of people from city to city by the Combine, just to keep people from bonding relationships or conversing for long periods of time, something of that sort. It's why one of the Citizen's has gone loopy about the train stations "always coming and going." For Mossman and Breen? I know Breen was chosen by the Combine as a sort of Advisor figure, and Mossman was his secretary of sorts.

It isn't known exactly of their origins. However, they're most likely from some other universe or deep into the cosmos, as Marc stated that the Combine are Multi-Dimensional/Universal Empire which spans from star-system to star-system. They had no idea Earth existed until the events at Black Mesa which drew their attention as they were in the midst of occupying Xen until the portal leakings.
