Going out is comfy af, my dude. I make it a habit to go camping every few weeks if I can, and it's a wonderful experience of solitude. However, I would say don't pull a McCandless because honestly he didn't know what he was doing, and he went to Alaska, which is probably one of the most unforgiving places in the US to try and be Mr. McBushcraftMinimalistSurvival. Unless you're some sort of survival expert (which I, by no means am) stick to short trips with a moderate amount of equipment. And to be honest, I would start out with car camping and then move up to hike-in stuff. And then, I guess if you want to, go for some tougher stuff, but that really doesn't need to be your goal. Hell, stick with car camping if you find that more fun. If you want to be Mr. Hardcore Badass, go for it, but work up to it. McCandless overestimated himself and died. Going out is great, but too many people try too hard to be cool and forget to actually have fun.
