Sandwich bags have those irritating edges that scratch. I did try wrapping a sphygmomanometer bag around a tool handle, but it took forever to clean.

I also tried using a few different toothbrushes, but they were all too small.

I seriously, unironically suggest using a wax candle, like the kind you would light at a fancy dinner (unlit, unless you're into that). My greatest diy success was a slightly modified wax candle. Trust me: there is no better method.

Plugs and dongs were the easiest for me to make.
Pretty much just use this formula:

>sock over it for girth and soften/smooths it
>condom over that to finish it off

You can pretty much turn anything into a butt toy.

I live in a pretty small town too.
First time I got the condoms was when I went to the next city for grocery shopping.

Later I ordered a 30 pack of condoms off of Amazon.

Also this is my new favorite thing to do with those my dildo.

I'd recommend finding some larger sized condoms. It was hard stretching regular sized ones over some toys I tried to make. It might have just been the brand I went with though.

An investment in actual toys is probably one of the best I've ever made.
