He made the initial investment to establish the means of production, which provided a number of other people the opportunity to work to earn money, and should be rewarded for doing so.

The difference between the value of your labour and the amount of money he pays you is the equivalent of you renting his equipment from him to use.

When I was in high school, I'd regularly pose as a university student to attend both Communist Party and Democratic Socialist meetings. I didn't jive well with either group, but I did get to go on free trips to cities like Chicago and Washington, D.C. Rather regrettably, one of the first Google search results for my name is on the attendance sheet of a leftist rally in the capital some years ago.

As I've gotten older, I've actually found myself drifting further left on the political spectrum.

I'm socially moderate (pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion but am skeptical of Muslims and rather disinclined towards religion as a whole), economically liberal-ish (I don't want the government to take over private industry but do believe in regulation and welfare), and... fuck, I don't know.

Every day I get angrier and angrier about how my labor is being exploited by individuals and corporations. I suppose my feelings might fade after I finish my degree program, but I can't stand how capitalism beats ordinary people down into the ground and makes them accept drudgery as a normal state of being.

I'll give you the short version. Working class movements world wide grow. Third world shit holes with insanely wealthy monarchies and dictatorships mostly tied to the colonial empires get thrown out. They attempt to modernize and remove themselves from dependency. They have some success but are met with collosal violence and attack by the traditional mostly western empires from inception. Gradually they are forced back into dependency and passivity and poverty. If aliens were viewing from space they would have saw tremendous violence by the wealthy (using the domestic poor) against the poor. Mostly successful.

There is nothing wrong with either of those systems as long as everybody is able to enjoy a decent standard of living if they work, which Western people do.

Communism might be more ethical within your autistic standards and principles, but it hardly results in a higher standard of living.
