PCs, Internet and Smartphones were a mistake

Now I'm trying to disconect all I can from all things with screens. I think that we live in the age of screens. All people wherever you go is looking to a fucking screen, either the smartphone, the laptop and if you are at home the televison or the computer. We spent like 1/4 of our lifes looking to fucking screens. And then you wonder why so many of us have that lack of social habilities to talk to people and to meet girls. I wonder why it could be?

So that's what I think. Computers, then Internet and now smarphones (the final weapon of social destruction and the most perfect) have ruin many many lifes. I won't say they are bad per se because all technology depends of how you use it but I still think that having this things when you are still a kid fuck your brain and then it's very difficul to change that after years and years of the same habits.

I've always been in agreement with this sentiment. However, when it comes to smartphones and social media, it's kinda necessary to exist socially. If you deprive your kids of the opportunity of being like the other kids (enough to where they can have friends), then they're gonna end up just like you are now: a socially deprived robot that has the free time to write shit this fuckin long out and thinks that people give a damn

I grew up in an era before the internet and cell phones blew up so I'm kind of used to certain things

What does piss me off is the fact that kids are growing up on these garbage cell phone games

Know how they used to sell hard drugs like methamphetamines over the counter to pregnant women? I think perhaps in the future we will realize that we did the exact same thing with internet access for kids.

Honestly, it makes me sick, thinking of all the horrible shit I've seen and done with this cursed digital gift. I saw a dead body before I turned 14. That would be bad enough, except it ALSO completely fried my brain. I'm 22 and I can't even finish a book. What the fuck.

That's another great negative effect of what I'm talking about. Internet, smarphones... they put you in a state of perpetual anxiaty, always looking instant content and fast things. They take concentration away from you. I have had that problem too. When this generation don't read a fucking book a year we are all doomed. In 20 years we will be living in Idiocracy world.

I wasn't allowed a PC in my room at all and I lived with my parents until 20yo. Early years I'd only be allowed 2h a day and after that I had to get off at 21:00.

Nostalgia is only worth so much. Not all games age well. but they don't even know what it's like to play a round of Mario Kart with your neighborhood friends and then lose that friendship in a round of Mario Party. Very sad!

The internet has its wonders and curses. I think the internet itself isn't the problem, it's the people who use it. Chances are you still would have been in the same situation you're in now regardless if the internet existed or not. Reclusive shut ins have always existed, it's just now you see them much more often because modern society isn't as brutal as the past and they post on the internet. My family had one central computer until I got a laptop as a gift one year (I still have and use it, an HP Pavillion 4530s) and even then we couldn't just stay on it all day. My family also had a plethora of issues that I'm beyond glad to have gotten out of, but at the same time I guess I have to thank them for forcing me out of my comfort zone and into the planet. Granted socially I could be considered unsuccessful, but at least I'm living on my own.


Point is that parents have a VERY profound effect on their children whether they know it or not. Tiny details add up later in life, and most robots origins could most likely be contributed to some kind of shitty parenting of some sort. Granted this isn't for all, such things are very randomized.

it's funny, my dad remarked the other day that if he had access to all the stuff I have now (pc, internet) when he was young I would never have been born. he was open about it and said he was a huge fucking nerd and shy to boot, and that only through forcing himself to partake in social interactions because he was bored out of his mind did he meet my mom.
so it had me wondering just how many people are not being born right now because of the availability of modern technology, how many older robots on here are not bringing consciousnesses into existence...

i think that if i was allowed to play vidya and internet as much as i wanted, the sooner the better, it was more harmful to me to reach 20 years old and then spend the next decade playing the fuck out of vidya and interneting because i had been denied vidya before lol

so instead i fuck up my 20-30 age range, and now i'm a neet 35yo loser, with no prospects and i don't even like playing games now

would've been much better to have got that out of my system as a boy instead, like for reals, shit doesn't even matter until high school, would've been much more beneficial to have got over gaming early on

(my parents even sent me to a miliatary boarding school, where no gaming allowed)

and when it was holidays, i would have to go to my parents somewhere abroad where there wasn't home internet or PC,

first chance i got at 20 and my own place was to get fired from work, go on unemployment and start hardcore gaming, bam a decade gone and i can say that it hasn't been worth it

Facebook at least has some type of texts you can read, news, pages or whatever. But Instagram is only photos and little sentences.
