Both drugs cause vasodilation, potentially lethal in combination. I suffer from spouts of hypotension as it is so a strong dosage should be enough to end me. Depends on the tank. A lot do 50-50 Oxygen to Helium spread simply because it's cheaper. Our air is only 21% oxygen so if you get a 50-50 spread it won't knock you out, but prolonged exposure can cause respiratory acidosis. That being said, you'd have to keep the mask on for a while for that to happen.

To my understanding you can still get 100% helium tanks.

Your body doesn't recognize helium or nitrogen as something it needs to freak out about. It only recognizes a buildup of CO2.

So if all you're breathing in and out is helium (nitrogen is actually better for this for a number of reasons but the same principle applies) you simply pass out in 8-30 seconds, and brain death follows afterward (takes between 5 and 40 minutes).
