I'm having a crisis r9k. I've been a staunch atheist my entire life, believing wholly in evolution and rejecting what I considered to be the naive idea of a God...
Now I don't know what to think, I was posed this argument;
'Genes and environment can be used to predict the success and behaviour of an individual, so where does free will come from? If you're not a determinist, God must exist.'
What the fuck do I do r9k
Easy, accept determinism.
This argument is unfalsifiable and therefore horseshit.
Scientists actually don't have the faintest idea on how and why the brain works the way it does
OP is either 13, retarded, or a theist throwing bait.
You can predict with genes, but its all statistics and probability. just because you have a gene, doesnt mean it is activated, and a lot of genes we dont know how theyre activated, and the ones we do only activate at an X chance under X conditions. Variation is everywhere. Not very much of it is absolute.
I'm a STEMfag and I still believe in God. All the stuff I see just further proves it; why would God make anything but this incredibly complex, but ultimately perfect machine?
I am an apatheist

Free will is just a meme. There is literally no philosophical justification for its necessity.
In fact, on top of being contingent, it actually creates contradictions unless you're an idealist.

Play mgs2 genes and environment are not your god

research indicates that the feeling of free will is mostly your brain making rationalizations about why you did things which were instinctual and spontaneous at the time

>free will is just a meme
I want this to be said in the next deus ex game so bad
