So here's a question for you autists. Why do gill shapes make me cringe? Like, involuntary, full, creeped out cringe. Some examples, from most to least cringe, include horse laminae, certain skin problems, fish gills, and mushrooms. Pic related, it's horse laminae.

I think it reminds you of the inner workings of your body; your nerves, blood vessels, and other similar branching structures (like lungs) that would be extremely painful to witness in real life. Nobody wants to see their own organs on the outside, and those pics remind you of this uncomfortable feeling.
