I've taken as many as 16 for severe food allergies. I've never had that experienced doom or spiders. It's usually a sleepy, mild euphoria for a few minutes and then you inevitably dose off.

What people might refer to as the "high" from decongestants is its anticholinergic properties. These types of drugs are smooth muscle relaxants, although Benadryl probably isn't formulated to achieve this effect very well. It's doubtful it even does anything to help with sinus congestion at all, and it may in fact simply be a placebo for allergy symptoms.

Anticholinergics are pretty dangerous for recreational use, because they're also anxiogenics. (i.e. They cause anxiety.) As another anon mentioned, they can also cause psychosis. At particularly high doses, they can paralyze your extremities and decrease lung function.

pro tip: one or two of these can help reduce panic and anxiety in certain people
