It's Worth a shot, depression is an existential issue and can be a bitch to treat. Personally i have taken up reading. More specifically philosophy, i am getting better but i dont know if it's because i have gotten something to look forward to every day. I also exercise occasionaly.

The psychologist you choose is the most important part.

It's the other way around.
You're supposed to talk to a psychiatrist first. He will ask the psychologist for an evaluation in addition to eventual other tests (CT scans, MRIs to rule out physical problems).
Then you'll get talk therapy from the psychologist while the psychiatrist might give you medication along that.
