Is anime really that more popular today in the USA than, say, 15 years ago?

15 years ago you'd have McDonald's toys for Pokemon and Burger King toys for DBZ. Pokemon the First movie made tons of money and Toonami was all the rage.

Now you only really find anime online. Not many people in the mainstream talk about it too much.

But then again, there's that new Ghost in the Shell live action film, and that Netflix live action movie for Death Note coming soon, so who knows.
