haven't had one of these in a while

Do you have an autistic obsession with a certain topic, from model trains to neuroscience, or at least know more about it than the average person?

Then congratulations, you are now an "expert" on that topic, for the purposes of this thread.

>post your area of expertise
>post a topic you'd like to learn more about
>ask eachother questions about their topics

you never know, you might learn something.

I'll start.
>my expertise
beginner-moderate level guitar, electric and acoustic

Is expert the new term for autism? If so, I am an expert on anything ghost and alien related. I also didn't know that /x/ was basically rping until 2013. I would like to know more about welding since I am now working on Naval ships.

>6th gen and forward

i was playing drums for 10 years but i stopped playing for 2 years after moving to uni. I play it a little now but nowhere near as much as before.
I started guitar later and have been playing for 6 or 7 years now.
I played with some friends in school for a time (we were really bad tho) and then with other friends later on. we were quite a bit better with the second band and i was the drummer in both. We still have some music layin around i think.

I want to learn bass (not guitar, sorry, the cello type bass) because i get an eargasm everytime i hear that thing played.

>tell me more about your spooky stuff
When I was in the Navy me and a lot of other people who stood lookout would report flashing lights zipping around in the sky. We would report it to the OS's (one of the guys who would view the radar) and they would say nothing is in the sky. I also seen what looked like a white flare shoot out the water on the starboard side of the ship. It shot up into the air and disappeared for a second, then shot 90 degrees forward and kept going. I knew a guy who committed suicide. He slept in the same barracks room as me on the bottom bunk. I remember hearing someone sobbing on the bottom bunk while I was alone in my barracks room. It was kind of weird since everyone else was gone and I was in the middle of jacking off.

I wrestled in middle school. When I moved to japan, I joined the judo club in high school before dropping out to train in shooto (catch wrestling/mma) full time. I've trained a little bit of brazilian jujutsu as well.

>>
>>35742914
i joined in 2007 and i've got no idea where to even start. most importantly this board didn't exist then I think. I stopped visiting around 2012 and came back in 2016, still doesn't feel like I've re-settled yet. anyway there's a page out there where they chronologically ordered a lot of events which can be cool to read about. most important thing was the overall culture and feel of the place. the buzzwords keep changing. especially after leaving and returning it's a bit of a culture shock but nothing stays the same for too long around here. sasuga channel 4

also the days of having to use noko so you won't lose your thread in /b/ are long over with the catalog. 4chan even has its own (good) catalog now. same with reply links, which you needed to add an extension for. when I got back I was wondering how 4chan X suddenly got on my pc. there were also ways of completely changing the look which worked with 4chan X but I forgot what it was called. Hell it might still be a thing but I haven't seen any in screenshots for a long time. the amount of screenshots taken from mobile phones really suprised me though.

What's the difference between trills and rolls?
Trill: tr/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Roll: -//0
>>
>>35744152
A trill is when you rapidly alternate between the note marked with the trill and the note right above it.
There is no such things as a roll in the classical tradition.
>>
>>35744212
But I have seen two or more slashes through a note in sheet music, so what is that?
>>
>>35744021
why can't you tune the 12 note scale purely?

Physics, I can absorb information that interests me and physics interests me, even though I haven't had any formal education outside of school.

I like thinking about a topic until I run out of steam or hit a question that I don't know the answer to, then I found out the answer and continue thinking about it.

I know I'm never going to be a physicist but I can take the necessary mental leaps to understand what I'm reading about/seeing.

timpani-rolls-sheet-music.jpg

>>35744313
Oh, you mean like this? In the context of timpani or other drum music it's commonly called a roll but in other context like string or piano writing it's called a tremolo. It means you rapidly play that note over and over, like you're trembling (tremolo means tremble).

>>35744359
The math just doesn't line up. Just intonation sounds really good if you stay in a certain key area, but the farther you modulate the more the numbers will misalign and the more out of tune it will sound. In equal temperament everything is slightly misaligned, but all keys are equal. If you listen you can hear something called beating, which is "an interference pattern between two sounds of slightly different frequencies, perceived as a periodic variation in volume whose rate is the difference of the two frequencies."
This is a good read on the matter: http://www.kylegann.com/tuning.html

i'm autistically obsessed with my favorite game. i'm not saying what game, it's too embarrassing even for /r9k/. seriously.
i have hundreds of hours from replaying it over and over again and i know everything there is to know about it. i replay it almost every month, but sometimes i take longer breaks so that it's more exciting when i replay it again.
i have a ton of theories and shit about the lore and fantasize about the characters often, sometimes i even wish i could escape this world to live inside the game world and be their friends. i know it's pathetic

Pros and cons desu. I'm not a fan of the GOP (or Dems for that matter) but he was the least damaging candidate. He's very unique from the other candidates. Not cutting entitlements and being against free trade openly is unprecedented in recent history. I think it's also interesting how extremely powerful the GOP is now. They haven't been this powerful since Hoover and have slowly clawed their way back up to finally control all three branches of government. I think and hope things will remain volatile on both sides for quite a while.

>my expertise
I wish I could contribute to this thread, as I have had many topics that I've developed an autistic interest in, but I only manage to get enough knowledge to pass as a connoiseur, not actually be one. The closest things to expertise for me are: TF2 Freak Fortress x10 Hales, WH40K lore, Need for Speed Carbon, and Just Cause 2 Multiplayer Mod. All my knowledge on Crusades and medieval architecture is rusted to the point of counting as nonexistent.
>something I want to learn about
WH40k lore (specifically IG, Tau, Necron and SM), some specific aspects of Mass Effect lore or setting (what do they eat, what is a day like in the life of, say, a Turian and maybe jargon and little things like that, more on civilian vehicles, sports, etc), Age of Empires 3 Napoleonic Era, TF2 lore (and strategies for Freak Fortress x10).
