Because the teachers themselves can get sued for what is perceived as harassment of one of the students.

A parent sees the teacher screaming at a kid, but didn't see the years culminating in that. They just see their perfect little angel being victimized. This problem is especially bad with black parents who never take responsibility for their little turds and see themselves as victims of the system

It's because they wanted to be seen as the "cool" teacher because they can't grasp that no matter what they do, students won't see them as anything other than a teacher.

I had cool teachers yeah and they certainly weren't those people. They were all my teachers though and not my friends.
