If you don't care about sex, then you can have that deep connection with anyone. Start cultivating a genuine love for humanity. Eros isn't real love. It is shallow an possessive and fickle.
That idea forms the center of monastic life. Leaving behind the false delusion of erotic love and forming real genuine connections with other people. These people have dedicated their lives to enjoying higher, more lasting things than erotic love.
