sadly i reached the brick wall of 40-50 something smithing where your xp just stops going up quickly, so i stopped doing it. i used to just go mine my own ore and do my own smithing on a daily basis. honestly if i needed to get something, i just went out and got it instead of getting it off of someone else

You were missing out. Back then it was actually somewhat practical to stand and pick up runes while waiting for them to spawn. Only one person had 99 smithing so only the super elite had anything rune. You got to be in the top 100 in the high-scores if you had a stat over 60 or 70. You really felt like you were unlocking and discovering things.

Also, in the very beginning you could attack people anywhere on the map, not just the wilderness. I remember being attacked by a guy who's level was "???" in the wizards tower. It's too bad they gutted the PvP system entirely.

I hope runescape as the best MMO because it was so trading and economy driven. The GE was a total money highway but at the same time it destroyed the close community that each server had.

And guess what - even when the government (Jagex) placed restrictions on trade, basic supply and demand still forced players to get around these limits by simply creating new forms of currency - "junk items" which are currently overpriced in the GE (regulator) to be sold alongside "rare items" which are currently underpriced
