Automata.
The Zero Theorem. i always post this in robot approved movies because it's about a hermit who rejects a prostitute who legit falls in love with him, but that's not really what it's about, it's a crazy ass movie.
The American. that movie gave me artsy feels, very beautiful movie, even the dialogue is beautiful.

buncha others but those are more recent.

I watched interstellar again 2 days ago

it's an awesome movie, I cried like a bitch when he was reading the messages and in the end

Is this all ironic? Interstellar was ruined by that terrible ending. The only feel I had was anger.
Last movie to make me well up was Flight 93, which was a while ago.
>>
>>35684360
And not knowing if it's real or not makes is better ?
>>
>>35684360
I don't mind some suspension of disbelief, but that is pretty much what the whole movie centers around.
>>
>>35684387
yes, it's called suspension of disbelief, otherwise all fiction would look stupid....................dotdotdot

>me me trolled again

lets just cut straight to the roleplay, we all know this is what every thread on here comes down to.
>>
>>35684387
there is nothing wrong about putting our imagination at work

black holes have been proven to exist, and worm holes are theoretically possible since they do not violate any relativity laws. Sure travelling in space at the speed of light is hard to achieve, but the same could be said about commercial airplanes 200 years ago.
>>
I just saw this movie for the first time a while back.

Apollo 13. Brings me to tears.

There's something immensely beautiful about space exploration. Interstellar kinda did the same thing for me, but not as well. Some of it is the this-actually-happened factor, but other than that, I think it's just easier to actually comprehend the scale of what's going on when it's smaller. Travelling to other stars to rescue humanity from certain doom is just another heroic epic. Three guys stuck in a small tank right next to Earth, sent there for nothing but scientific curiosity and petty politics? That's almost relatable. You can catch a glimpse of the infinite in those shots of the Saturn V taking off.
>>
>>35684431
What else is there in the movie other than the display of pseudo-scientific fantasies?
A story of a father and his relationship to his daughter? One that isn't explored at all beyond establishing that they have a close bond?
>>
>>35684347
>magical black holes
>implying they aren't
Singularities, man. They're fucked up.
>>
>>35684460
you said it yourself, a father and a daughter, what more do you want to establish? isn't that clear enough by itself?

like I said, there is nothing pseudo about black holes, warm holes or time dilution. They are proven facts, go read the literature.

Objects with mass warp space and time. With enough mass, things are gonna get weird.

If you think Einstein was wrong, you're welcome to present another theory that explains the movements of stellar objects better. He was probably wrong about a lot of things, really, but his models work quite well when it comes to predicting how the universe will behave.

the ending of interstellar made me burst out in laughter after watching it the second time and getting the story in detail because it's the most overjunked theatrical acting ever seen by ellen burstyn, trying to make the whole thing seem so awesome with no real substance, here at 3+ minutes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWqdAgA-F8c

you need to hear the german version, it's even stupider over the top

the whole movie has these weird overacted moments with no real substance, for instance the whole thing about the mad damon character dr. mann is so fucking stupid, nothing of what the guy does makes any real sense and in exchange you get some mumbling

Futhermore: You're in the wrong board.
>>
>>35685946

>Did you just not like that Mann figured he was going to die and went crazy on his hopeless ice planet?

look I like the movie for what it is but I don't pretend the plot is consistent and (as far as black hole stories go) realistic, which is unfortunately what fanbois are trying to do

if mann just wanted to be saved he could have just not make up some story about an utopia under the ice and pretended is was some sort of technical failure that activated the beacon, or just straight up confessed that he lied, in both cases the others probably wouldn't have him left to die since they're the good guys nasa and shit

if he wanted to make plan b happen instead of plan a and cooper somehow threatened this, guess what, mann was the highest-ranking person of them all, if he was pretending it the signal was a technical failure he could have just ordered the others to do plan b

instead, he figures he can wing it completely alone (kek), leave them behind, also blow shit up in their camp on the planet while he's at it, then he manages to fuck up the docking sequence in a rookie mistake although he's a great scientist, wew his survival, his most important priority, is ensured

all the while he babbles some crap, and after he's dead he's not even mentioned in the rest of the movie ever again

this is just weak writing because they needed some insane person who fucks shit up so they can deliver those wacked lines for the atmosphere of the film, which I have no problem with saying was pretty good
>>
>>35686299

>>

Let me get this straight...you're complaining that the man (Mann) who went insane from stranded and left isolated on a planet, thinking he would just slowly starve to death and that he failed all of human kind, was not acting rationally?

no, what I'm saying is

1. other pretend what he does makes sense in some arcane way because 'interstellar is teh bestest movie in le last decade and some black guy physicist and his buddy kip thorne vouched for it so it can't be nonsense right'
2. it really doesn't, and a lot of other shit in the movie is also quite inconsistent
3. if you can like the movie despite that great for you as I do too
4. if you're satisfied with deus ex machina explanations like 'he's insane' which justify anything in a superficial way that's ok but again don't do 1. then

perhaps you should work on your reading comprehension, since I stated all of this clearly in my post
