Here's a better idea for you, brobot. Buy an identical HDD.

Then, try and replicate all of the data (sans the illegal content, of course) that is on the original drive onto the replacement drive.

If you ever suspect that you are under surveillance, swap out the drives and destroy the drive with the illegal content in a way that would leave the parts unrecognisable or just straight up toss them into a river or something.

The only 100% way to destroy data on any device is to destroy the device.
