Zangief is a top lad. I'm not competitive by any means but I love the idea of characters that, if they close the gap, can do massive damage. Plus I love grappling, being a judoka myself.

Fei Long is more like it. That flaming shoryuken - but with your feet! is very nice. Plus back in Alpha 3 he had the pure Bruce Lee flying kick super. Nice rushdown punches too, of course.

I did try to get into it at one point but I just didn't get it at all. The timing seemed impossible for a start. The limit of my expertise is usually doing the specials/ supers at will, jumpkick, sweep, normal hit.

I got into Tekken online though, and that felt far more intuitive. Paul Phoenix is the one for me. I got some pretty consistent wins, but my repertoire was never particularly deep. A tenstring, a few three-strings, a couple of big moves, counter-grapple, that's about it. Dark Souls PvP is nicer because the variety is more limited. Just careful timing, pokes and rolling.

Well it has more in common with games like Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive mechanically, if you've played them. A bit like Soul Calibur as well I suppose. If you're into Street Fighter and want to make the jump, then you picked the right time: Tekken 7 has Akuma in it.

I do like Ryu's bit, and to think about him. I was down the gym today and his music kicked in. I remembered that he walks, mostly barefoot, around the whole world with nothing but an ever-more filthy gi and a giant sack of prize money so he can afford plane tickets, a rare shower and meat on the bone. You have to imagine he's a little bit sad or just has flat affect when he's not fighting. Ken tries his best with him, but he really does have the autism pretty severely.

Hugo is trash with very little to recommend him. Another like Zangief or even Hakan are more reasonable. Big though he is, Hugo just has so little in terms of tools. I wish he was better, but he isn't. Also, with grappling vs striking I was mostly just talking about personal preference.
