before the internet, I would have adapted and became a normie, leading a mostly happy small town life.

now I just avoid the world in my room staring at a screen 16 hours a day.

How small is small? I live in a city with 17k people across the street from another city with 70k people in an area with around 90k people.

I fucking don't, I hate it. It's fucking miserable. Where I live, the most recent census I could find says it's a town of 344 people, that's as of 2010. There's nothing to do, nowhere to go, everything is far as fuck away especially if you're like me with no car or diver's license. I have no job and have been trying to get one for a long time but it's hard to do in my situation. I had to quit smoking weed so I can find a job which sucks but I can't find a job so now I am just sober and pissed off. I pretty much have no one to help me, I don't have a phone so that makes it harder to get a job. I don't get neetbux and have been against it for a while from seeing a few people I know that are on it but at this point I just don't care anymore. The internet here is fuckin ggarbage, I have a friend that lives in a much more rural area than me but yet the internet is much MUCH better where he lives. Where I am there isn't even a local phone company. I moved out here not knowing or even thinking it was going to be an issue but found out that much of America is either poorly connected or not connected at all. In the past few years I have been jobless, only being able to make a little money here and there online. then last January a temp service sent me to a factory to work, it only lasted two weeks and then they let me go. Said they "had too many people." Then a month or so went by and I was sent to a different factory but that only lasted two days. So now I am left with not much money, my dad was paying the rent but his savings are gone and he kind of just gave up looking for work, so I had to ask my mom to pay the rent. It's kind of awkward but she said she will do it. She is mentally unstable herself so I hope she still does it because she is unpredictable. Anyway I will start again looking for work next week like I have been. It's all so tiresome to be honest.

Small town Kansas. It's shit but meh. I'd be unhappy anywhere.

Sucks living in a small town you didn't grow up in. I moved to a town of 5000 people about 4 years ago and in that time I haven't so much as came close to making a friend or gf. A couple of Chads on tinder can wipe the entire area clean too so you have pretty much 0 hope.

Damn I really should get the hell out asap.

Grew up and still live in a town of like 2000 with an extremely low population density. It's a great place to live but there are literally no women within 500 miles who aren't stacies. As soon as I can afford it I'm gonna spend a few months in flipland

I feel the same way. There was a point not long ago where my life was so bad that I was about to just say fuck it and try living on the street. But after assessing the situation and learning more about the region I learned exactly how difficult it would be to be homeless. So I changed my mind. I decided to try and rough it out and bide my time for a little while longer. Doing anything and everything I can to change things for the better. I just sit here doing pretty much nothing all day, save for the chores and taking care of animals, using the computer and today was the first time I picked up my guitar in a few weeks. It's been like that for a while. What few interests I have, I have lost the will to keep pursuing. I have few friends, even after mustering up the courage to try and get in touch with a few from years ago so I don't really go out. They are all doing their own thing, living their own life. So I just sit here, drinking alone. Waiting for just a little bit longer, hoping that my plans go through and don't fall apart, or some other catastrophic thing happens. How did this happen? We weren't meant to live like this. we are meant for something more, something better.

Maybe so, I can't really speak for that. When I was kid we had section 8 after my parents split up and my sister and I went to live with my mother. Some of the places seemed bad but it didn't always seem terrible. My sister told me how she can't believe we lived in some of those places though, I was just so young I guess I was oblivious to everything happening around me. I would like to think that not every urban area is bad to live in.

Anyway, while it might not be ideal for you to be living where you are at the time it sounds like you still have it pretty good, you should be grateful. I hate cities, and love living rural and far away from other people. Being in a city I don't feel like a human, just another cog in a corporate machine. I don't know which is worse; actually living inside the city in some high-rise containment zone, or in a suburb where people somehow believe their 0.3acre fenced lot and brand-new sedan are great accomplishments to take pride in.
