You're the sum of your decisions, that is why you feel so shit when you make a call that has unethical cons or that violate your personal code

The primitive self is concerned with lust, hunger and survival etc
The higher self is concerned with piety, justice and order etc

You're the one that mediates between these two compelling forces, example of this would be you discovering a wallet on the ground, you pick it up and notice it has lots of money in it, but you also notice the ID that belongs to some elderly vet or something
Primitive self says take the money fuck the old guy his own fault for losing it
Higher self says return the wallet, the money belongs to the elderly person who probably worked hard to get it

Then you come to play, you are the one who decides what you do, one of your selves is going to be let down but which of them resonate with you in this matter?

That is you, and every time you are forced to make decisions that conflict with your personal code you erode a bit of yourself, sometimes compromises are a must but too much backing away and you lose yourself to your mask

Will you become a empty suit with fake smile?
Will you become a thug that takes lives at a drop of hat?
Where will your decisions lead you, our decisions don't always lead to the road we were aiming for but it was still us that made the decision,
imagine yourself as a tiny man in a flesh robot, that is you the driver, higher and primitive selves are your co-pilots but they don't hold any power over steering the body/flesh robot
Fucked up little trinity of function and reason, also the cause of mental illnesses id assume

TLDR; You're the driver, the decision maker, learn to make your own decisions or be lost in one of the other selves decisions or decisions imposed upon you by outside forces
