Few things:
1.Family wants you to be happy, they want you to feel loved. This makes it very very hard to trash a person with hard truth.
2. Family knows you way too personally to understand what the issue are with you. My older brother has clinical depression. I have grown up around that, so to me, it's normal. Outside people ask how I "put up with that?" to which I have no answer because he's my brother, he seems fine/normal to me, but I'm not an outsider just meeting him for the first time. Your family may be blind to your short comings.
3. There is no certainty in romance/dating. What works for me may never work for you, what works for you may never work for a thousand others. The persons you need to meet might be in another room or area code. You may need to ask out 100 girls out before getting one "yes" or it might be the next person you ask. There is no certainty to any of it.

The biggest issue I've identified with the foreveralones in highschool and uni has just been that they don't meet anyone. They've got solitary hobbies like hiking, mountainbiking, woodworking, gaming etc. To make friends or get a relationship you really need to throw yourself into social interaction - team sports, volunteering, team trivia all spring to mind as ways to meet people if your job isn't doing it.
