Just a general for Protestants, Catholics, unbelievers and everything in between.

We can discuss a range of topics ranging from Christ deity, does God exist and how we achieve eternal life along with help on how to grow in Christ and battle sin.

All are welcome.

So I'm Christian and I stopped my autistic tendencies but this still remains: I haven't made any close friends. My anxiety has gone for the most part but I still don't know how to make friends. This might seem elementary but I'd like some help

>How does it make you feel when they keep finding older and older bodies of neanderthal from 200,000 to 400,000
First of all, I'm not a young earth creationist second of all genesis talks about beast of the field and I see those neanderthals and those beasts. Same goes for dinosaurs or any other prehistoric animals.

>Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for your Lord your God will be with you wherever you go
Joshua 1:9

One of the main courses of anxiety is fear. We feel as though we are not good enough and feel inadequate and so are too fearful to try anything. But this verse tells us that we should not fear because God is with us.

>Even till your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you, and I will carry you. I will sustain you, and I will rescue you
Isaiah 46:4

Here we learn that we must rely on God because he should sustain us. And if we have the creator of the universe on our side who can we fear? God will never make a promise and not fulfil it!

>Yet to al who did receive him, to those who believed in his name. he gave the right to become children of God
John 1:12

And for the feeling of inadequate. Here Christ tells us that we have been chosen to be children of God, what higher status is there than that? To have the blessings of eternal life and for the creator of the universe to call you sons know that you aren't just another human living on earth but god's chosen.

Hope that helped.

Wew that's really useful. I have a tendency to downward spiral into self pity and then I forget who I am and what God has done for me.

Since this has been weighing on my mind, I'd like to tell you. I'm struggling with college. I keep escaping from my responsibilities. Just today I binged watched Watashi ga Motenai.

I know we're supposed to die to ourselves, but I keep repeating the same mistake. I keep procrastinating and escaping. This is a product from my pre-Christian days but, now I'm a new creation in Christ. I shouldn't sink back into old habits, right?
>>
>>35547520
>I shouldn't sink back into old habits, right?
Yeah, but also remember that we must always rely on God and put or full trust in him. He is the one that declared us his children, and he is the one that will preserve us in the faith so that we do not fall away.

>I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 10:28

Also, do your good works for your love of God and not for obligation because then you will be falling into the trap of the Pharisees, who believed that because they did good things God would have to let them into heaven. Remember we live to exalt God!
>>
>>35547520
Forgot to mention. When you believe you become sanctified, which is a slow process god does in you that conforms you to his will. this means the longer you walk in god the more you will become like him but out of habit and god's working in you.

Thank you for the help robro. I had a feeling all I had to do was just truth that God will complete the good work he started in me. This just reaffirmed it.

One last question, how do you go about praying?
>>
>>35548018
From what I've seen in scripture you can take any position but just making a sincere prayer is good enough.

John Piper who is a pastor use a couple of steps, I forgot what he called it, but it goes like this. First, confess to God that you are weak and need his help then pray for God to help you in the situation and lastly trust in God that he will do the right thing because then again he knows all and is good!

Where my Catholic bros at? Pope Francis has been pope for four years now. I like him a lot desu
>>
>>35548412
I disagree with his attitude towards Muslims. He's too lefty and is starting to diverge from traditional Catholic teachings that the past popes believe in.

I'm interested in hearing what an ORthodox Christians life is like in terms of religion, what is it like going to Church, and what has the religion brought to your life?
It's the faith I am most interested in.

>what is it like going to Church
For this, you will get an array of answers, but most will try to give you an answer that sounds nice but for the majority it a lot like going to work. I was listening to a talk by a guru, and he said he found it odd that people looked happier leaving a casino than leaving a church. But in reality for a true Christians who has been justified and sanctified by God going to church shouldn't be just like a one time thing. Think of it this way; I'm sure you love your father or someone in your life. Would you only meet your father once a week? Of course not. The early apostles would meet up "daily" and worship Christ.

>And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts
Acts 2:46

So we see church not so much as an obligation, unlike a lot of Christians do, but rather it's meeting, returning to and praising our loved one. God!

>what has the religion brought to your life?
This is a mistake a lot of people make. They think Christianity was created to appeal to their needs. Like God is some type of genie that gives you what you want if you obey him, like Islam and Joel Osteen preach. Our job is to praise God and do what is pleasing to him for it is the reason why we were created.

>For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him
Colossians 1:16

But what Christ has done for me is give me a peace of mind. Him dying on the cross took away all my sins and saved me from condemnations. What could I add on to that? All my sins were paid for in on the cross and are free of any guilty charge, and my heavenly position awaits. The reason why I and have faith is because of what Christ said in John 10:28

>I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
