I've noticed that a good chunk of actually smart folk have trouble with Math. I myself have a 136 IQ, tested at 17, and I couldn't wrap my head around Precalculus, meanwhile a bunch of average and dumb kids were getting straight As in my classes.

I think it's because Maths encourages really rigid, creatively void thinking which works for average joe, but really stifles the smarter kids, who question the validity and arbitrary nature of plenty of the rules in Maths, causing a lack of disinterest, which in turn causes a lack of ""understanding"".
