I still do this sometimes. I go for a late night cruise when no one else is on the road. I go down a series of back country roads that sometimes lead to small hidden towns I never knew about. Old 50's style diners and a single street of local mom and pop shops. Then the town ends and it's back to the countryside. I'd drive till the sun comes up. Haven't done it lately. While driving wouldn't listen to anything, I'd roll the windows down and feel the cool night air, and enjoy the silence of dead night.

Long drives are comfy as fuck. I remember driving out to the middle of the desert once and then just pulling over on the side of the road and sitting there looking at the stars. Few things have ever reached that comfort level.
