If a circumcised guy makes the decision not to circumcise his son, then he has to admit to himself that what was done to him was not a good thing. That he suffered a loss, when he was too young to defend himself. Not a loss of a dollar, or a hat, or a shoe. A loss of part of his penis.

He was strapped down, forcibly penetrated with a probe, and then a machine was jammed inside his dick while he screamed for mercy, a knob was tightened, and the machine crushed that part of his penis. Then it got sliced off. (this is just one example of how circumcisions are performed, but the other methods are not "gentle" or "holistic" or however they try to spin them)

And this was very likely at the request of his own parents, and at the hands of a DOCTOR or RABBI or IMAM, some figure that people tend to put a lot of trust in.

He has to look at this situation and think about it. Feel it. And in a sense, remember it.

If he circumcises his own son, in his mind, it can be rationalized away. He won't have to see his son with something that he himself had robbed from him, so he won't feel pangs of jealousy.

He won't have to confront the idea that his parents had something bad done to him (even if they didn't know it was bad at the time). He can spin it like, "Well, I had it done to my son and I know I wouldn't do anything bad to him, so what I did was good for him. And if it was good for him, it was good for me".

I was reading stories earlier today about doctors circumcising infants without their parents' knowledge or consent. Sometimes, they coerce parents into allowing them to circumcise their babies. Just a word of warning, if any of you have a son, when he's born, don't let him out of your sight until you are out of the hospital with him. If Dr. Silverstein wants to "run some tests" say you're coming with him and don't take no for an answer. If it's important to Dr. Silverstein that the father of the baby can't see what he's doing, that's a huge red flag.

Also, read every word of every document before you sign it. Hospitals sometimes tell you you're signing "discharge papers" or something and really you're signing that you're OK with them circumcising your son and charging you for it.

Some ignorant or malicious people liken circumcision to cutting fingernails or hair.

This is a bogus equation. The foreskin is intensely vascularized living tissue. Cutting it off is literally an amputation (and has even been described as such by the biased-in-favor-of-circ AAP).

Even in the best case scenario, the boy experiences pain and scarring, and loses major erogenous zones, blood vessels, muscular tissue, and the right to his whole body.

But in worse scenarios? He could be looking at horrific bleeding, shock, extreme scarring, loss of even more of his penis, or even death.

This is not a "little snip". Those words were a lie used to sell this horrific mutilation to parents. The Internet is killing this lie because documentation and information are getting shared in ways they never could be shared before.

In the US for well over a century foreskins have been used as a scapegoat for all sorts of medical conditions, including all of the ones I listed in my earlier tongue-in-cheek post except possibly plague (though it wouldn't surprise me if at least a few doctors tried to make foreskin plague out to be a thing).

Circumcision was marketed as basically a panacea, and the foreskin a cause of all manner of physical and mental illnesses.

Kind of a meme at this point but I'm honestly pissed that my parents had me circumcised. I just can't reason out why they would do it. Do they really care about traditions so much that they'd chop off my foreskin rather than just give me the decision.

They might not have been interested in watching porn. Or even if they were, they might not have known what to look for.

A lot of the time during porn, even if the male actor is intact, his foreskin is rolled back onto his shaft so a lot of people unfamiliar with the difference wouldn't say, "Oh, there's a foreskin". It's there but not exactly jumping out at you. If you didn't know what to look for, you probably wouldn't see it.

Some guys just do fine with a non-retractile foreskin. If it isn't causing you serious problems you can just leave it that way.

The late Dr. Paul Fleiss talked about this. Some guys whose foreskins don't go back need to fix it (for example if it's causing them pain or sexual dysfunction), but a lot of others can just roll with it.
