How does one "just bee confident"?

You can't just choose to be confident. Confidence comes naturally when you are not too afraid that something bad is going to happen to you.

If you could just "be confident" then confidence would be useless to begin with, because then people would just "choose to be confident" in situations where they actually shouldn't be confident. Then they would fucking die.

Confidence is not the greatest thing in the world. It's a state of mind that is useful when the computer that is your brain calculates (hopefully correctly) that it can attain the object of its desire without incurring losses greater than the object of the desire.

There are times when it's good to be more confident, and times when it's good to be less confident.

But for some reason 21st century American society has decided that confidence is some supreme virtue or something. It's not.
