Is Vietnam a good place to move to?

I've been told it's one of the "hotspots" for mid-life crisis-ers and wanna-be young hipster hobos, much like Equador.

Reason is, cost of living is cheap, visas are easy, and it has that exotic touch. Not sure how fun it would be, though. Language barrier might be an issue.

Food's probably good, though.

Vietnam? Let me tell you about Vietnam.
It was 1969, we were hiding in the bushes after massacaring an entire team of rebel farmers.
We held a local village hostage so that the enemy couldn't make a move against us.
Suddenly, a little boy came through the jungle. He had a bowl full of vegetables, a jug of water and the widest smile a vietnamese boy that lost his friemds in war could ever give. He put the bowl and jug next to our feet and was beginning to leave, but we had to stop him. He knew our position, we couldn't allow him to tell the villagers anything. It was a matter of lives. Lives of either 20 young, inexperienced men or a child that had no right to be as innocent as he was. The choice was clear.
They forced me to do it. Everyone else couldn't pull the trigger wothout succumbjng to tears. I grabbed my Colt.
A loud noise and the sound of birds flying away. One bullet was enough to finish off his starved, feeble body.
That experience changed me. I couldn't look at my rifle for 10 years after the end of the war. Everytime I close my eyes, I see his smile.
He left a hole in me larger than any rifle could make. A hole too large to be filled with cheap brandy. A burden too large to carry.

I once heard an indian (not native american, real proper imdian from the friggin jungle) describe Vietnam as the hottest place he's been. I would go there for a visit right this second, but no way in hell I'd be moving there.
Nice food, met more than the occasional nice vietnamese folk, but not a place I'd stay for long

Looks like you can do a job there for a few months. But, I'm sure it wouldn't pay anything. and unless you'd have the language basics down, it would be hard to actually get one, I'd imagine.

My opinion: save up and just go there for fun OR do some type of ERE scheme and get your permanent visa
