I left out a bunch of famous ones that are obviously good. Such as evangelion, deathnote, azumanga diaoh, gems such as el hazard from the 90s that are not super long, post 2000 anime such as haibane renmei, ergo proxy is better than serial experiments lain for the same melancholy effect. There's a bunch of good ones, I've a negative mind so it's hard to remember the actual good ones. Rozen maiden even.

i know that feel. inuyasha was the first animu i went out of my way to watch (downloading episodes off kazaa lite). i don't think i ever made it past episode 20 or so. i think i was having trouble finding the next one in the sequence and i just gave up, kek. after that was love hina (shinobu was top waifu). i still really like some of the music from it, okazaki ritsuko was pro. rip
