What if you are always nice to people, but also so awkward/ugly that you never can get nice attention from those that you desire? Makes you bitter towards yourself and life in general. But still try to be friendly as possible.

Depends. The main point is letting the bitterness fester. The longer you have it the more damage it does.

I will say that if your bitterness is solely stemming from lack of female attention, you probably just need to get laid. If its deeper than that, you need to examine your life and try to fix it before you end up emotionally and mentally fucked up.

What does it mean to be nice?

I used to think of myself as a genuinely nice person because I to always act selflessly, and generally be courteous, polite and respectful towards others.

The issue is I always keep to myself because I always look angry/dead inside and have internalized the belief that I've nothing to offer people by interacting with them. I think this leads to people assuming that I hate them, that I'm an asshole, etc.

Anyway I can fix this?

Idk I do the same thing. Always hear comments about how angry I look, used to be called school shooter. I only interact with people who go out of their way to interact with me. If I'd try to engage it would probably cause suspicions.

Yep. Happened to me a few times too. Worst that's ever come of it is when I was in middle school and found out that my Algebra teacher (who I had a slight crush on) thought I hated her. I started crying in the middle of gym warm-ups when I learned that.

Ironically, people assuming that I hate them like that sometimes makes me genuinely hate them.
