I go to restaurant "A" and the staff did their jobs properly. The bill is $40, so at 15% the tip is $6.
Then I go to restaurant "B" and the staff did their jobs properly. The bill is $110, so at 15% the tip is $16.50, but the staff did nothing more than the restaurant "A" staff.
Why should I pay one more than the other for the same service?
The price and quality of the food have nothing to do with what the servers do.
Frankly, I think it is a rip off.
I'm still waiting for an explanation, any explanation.
to ensure that they get paid an amount proportional to the restaurant's revenue
it's a rip off but ultimately you're not getting ripped off, it's the employee who is getting shafted
because tip culture is bullshit and restaurant owners are greedy fucks who aren't paying their employees a proper wage and passed it on to the customer.
I always tip arbitrarily dependent on how I feel about the server's performance. Generally I'll tip nothing. Tipping is a meme anyway, anyone that says tips are a necessary part of a server's wage is retarded. If they end up making below minimum wage the employer is bound to pay them.

I make minimum wage and I still can't be assed to care. Tip high, make someone's like marginally better.
>tipping
the only tip waiters need is to stop doing highschool student work and to get a real adult job

Tipping is so annoying.
I got my eyebrows waxed today ~15 mins later~ that will cost you $28...oh and would like to add a tip?
Then when I get my hair done I literally pay like $150 (cut and color), and they also expect tip. It's such bullshit. I work in the hospital as a nurse and I work VERY hard. Do I get tips? Fuck no. Never!
As for food service (we rarely eat out), I give a dollar per person, AND THATS IT. Unless it's amazing service. Resturants should pay their wait staff more. Fuck that
