I don't cook all that often since I live in a smelly dorm, but there will almost always be onions involved, if only just a small bit for flavor. It's much easier to deal with then the overpowering flavor of garlic that so many people seem to fuck up.
A typical lunch for me is dicing half an onion and sauteeing it in butter or olive oil before pouring a scrambled egg or two over it.
