ah yes, we've chatted before, good stuff. i had to resign due to personal issues. hope everything comes along with the project man.

>>35401742
youtube and just googling around helps, there's a lot of good sources to learn from. best thing is to find the balance between stuff you like, and theory. see where it goes from there. a simple bass guitar to get started shouldn't cost much either. just some used axe to see what you think of it.

>>35401744
you've posted your stuff before somewhere but I don't remember where. i like the lyrics on 'a million faces'. it's really compact but still rich in content, it feels right. personally I think the track could do with some less strumming and something more memorable so that it takes a more unique shape, but I still like it.

i like the idea. for that sort of riffing I'd suggest a much different but mostly heavier mix. something like Led Zeppelin's Wanton Song, that'd do your song justice as it's pretty interesting but the mix is bottlenecking the entire thing. i'm curious what it'll sound like over time. also adding some more groove in the guitar could spice it up. it's a bit straight forward now but it feels like it wants to go somewhere else. all in all it's a cool foundation.

>>35401943
what you need to do is get your hands on a proper VST drum plugin (addictive drums is pretty good) and work your stuff out. you're being limited I think. bass shouldn't be much of an issue for a player like you. also stay on the lookout for bandmates. if you're from the netherlands hit me up. though, these days you can work on music using the internet as well, so.

It's not about musicians that CAN'T agree to create something using their love for other genrese. It's about people that want to be just like X or be a tribute band of Y, and that's just killing any sense of creation.

I'm ok with doing covers for the fun of it, but that's in between of original content that has heart put in

Guitar and vocals

I just want to be a white r&b singer in a funk band with a sick bass guitarist and drummer and jazz keyboardist.

I live in a shitty city music wise so I'm recording some acoustic guitar stuff to just showcase my voice. When I move to a different city I know I can get into a band as a singer.

This is what I've been working on. My voice cuts out a lot or drys and gets raspy because I have a cold but it's still alright. I'm going to add some more backing vocals going wah-ooo with a harmony and a lead guitar.

i was in a death metal band a few years back. We were mopped the floor with every other underground metal band in our city, on a technical level. Sadly we split up.
But we're currently trying to kind of get back together and make something new. I'm writing all the music except for drums. I'm excited about it but we have no idea if it's gonna go anywhere. I have to invest tons of time which I rarely ever find

I enjoy playing Euph and Tuba more than the others, they're one in the same but are also more fun than the others.

I enjoy marches the most. Sleigh Ride is a blast on tuba. Coat of Arms by George Kenny is one of my personal favorites. Lastly Serenade for wind band is very fun, especially when I learned the mixed meter time signature, alternating between 11/8 13/8 14/8 etc.

I'm currently going to college in Louisiana for a music ed degree. I also wanna do more pit work in plays in New Orleans since it's not too far and they look good on your record, as well as getting your name out there.
I'm also in the Marines reserves for college so I get some income and college is paid for, plus after college I can just go to active duty and do military band and so forth.

I play guitar. Have played on and off for years but never really developed a style. Just playing along to songs and playing fingerstyle instrumentals.
I am now starting to get more into learning how to play blues.

I just really wanna be able to create my own music.
>>
>>35401935

at around 0:36 instead of just playing the same note 16 times, how about change the last 8 to a higher note?

just a suggestion, it sounds good robro

I'm in a pop/rock band, an orchestra and a number of different sporadic music groups. When left to my own devices I jazz it up though. Got a jazz cover of the Melee menu theme that basically sums up my "skills". Made for a challenge in a week by myself with two mics so it's a shitty mix but there you go.

got this one for when I find a drummer and bass player. might work for a drunk audience that likes to rock in the direction of the stooges I suppose. needs some rehearsals and human touch I'd say

i think it would be a dream come true for any weeaboo chick who's a decent/good singer to have this sort of foundation to work with. where do you find them... that's a tough one. /jp/ ? conventions ? they're sketchy ideas but since you seem like a good producer you can go a long way to reach your ideal piece of art. approaching people at an open stage at some club with this sort of "japanese styled" music is really hit or miss and might get you the right results. maybe an existing project could hook you up with the resources you need. im sure there's some demand for this sort of style in the west.

thanks, I appreciate that. i've tried to let it flow into a ballad and a bluesy ballad, which seems closest but I want to be sure it maintains at least the quality of what's already there. it always feels like I'm stretching it out. the parts that are there were written for a friend not long after she took her own life so i've always got this voice in me telling me it's complete the way it is. a feeling rather than a song. as a musician i'd like to work it out but perhaps it's time to let it rest for real this time. i just wish I could do more

>>what instrument do you play ?

Right now just the piano, but I used to play the flute, guitar and violin.

All of those I played when I was kid and the flute I actually played in school up until grade 10 or 11. I managed to forget everything about music theory, how to play those instruments and everything related to music. I've been relearning how to play most of those and how to into music, as well as FL Studio, but I haven't got a violin anymore

>>what do you like to play ?

Anything that gives me a good feeling, and the desire to learn it fully and master it perfectly

Becoming the next Max Martin, sell my songs to pop normies and bank the millions so that I can also make all sorts of other music like chiptune or black metal without having to worry about paying the bills with fringe music that most people don't listen to

Soon.
>>
>>35407256
Is learning the piano difficult. I want to learn it in the near future but for now I am relearning my rudiments on drums.
>>
>>35407289
Well there is that meme about something something easy to learn but difficult to master.

I'm also not planning on becoming a concert hall pianist or anything I can't even be bothered to learn the proper hand placement (I probably totally should though).

At the very least on a visual level, the way how notes are layed out from left to right on a piano, yeah it is extremely easy, especially compared to the EBGDAE vertical/horizontal hot mess of a guitar fretboard, and other variables like dowtuning. C will always be followed by D, followed by E, followed by F, etc.

It's also how virtual instruments and sounds are processed in the program FL Studio, with the "piano roll" because a piano is by far the most intuitive instrument to learn.
>>
>>35407660
Would you recommend getting a book and learning on my own or trying to get a teacher? What music do you play?

Well it depends on how far you want to be dedicated to the piano. If you want to be an actual pianist down the road then definitely get a teach but if you just want a keyboardist then a book and some online resources is all you need.

Start with just a book and tutorials either way.

Actually if you buy a starter keyboard, it'll likely come with its own songbook and method to teach you hand placement.

I have a 61-key Casio keyboard and it teaches you how to play songs from Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Bach, etc. all with the proper hand placement.

I play, maybe not surprisingly, a lot of animu/weeb music.

I'm currently learning this one.

That's right, I listen to literally every genre of music that I know of and always look for some more.

Even music that I personally don't love or even find annoying I try to think why other people enjoy it and try to put myself in their shoes.

>But this Casio where can I find it specifically? Guitar center

I got mine from Best Buy a couple of years ago, iirc it was like 120$ or something like that. It was just the keyboard, with a music stand and book but you can buy other accessories like the pedal or a stand for the keyboard itself. One of the songs in the books is Ode To Joy actually.

Anyways you should shop around your local stores or even online. Mine's a CTK-2400 which is designed for people learning to play the piano and has extra features like USB connectivity, MIDI sampling, built-in microphone, etc. A keyboard's a keyboard though, definitely have a look around to see what's available and best suited for your needs.

The rhythm game is for phones/tablets fun too. It won't really help you in learning how to play anything but it's fun, and it might help you if you're really all thumbs and rhythm is a challenge.

I played snare in marching band in high school.....
The idea behind that was to look as much like a machine as possible.
Basically no arm movement.
All the strength came from the forearms and the muscle between your index and thumb.
(We played matched grip)
But, I play the drumset, as well.
Which, of course, requires arm movement.
The shoulder muscles will hurt, yeah.....but it's still all in the forearms.

Get some marching band snare sticks.
We used Ralph Hardiman's.
They're heavy.
Don't use them on your set.
Play on your leg or a pillow.

Basically, the motion you want:
Squeeze the fuck out of the stick.
All forearm.
Then just use the wrist motion.
....just so you can feel it.

Diddle's in the right hand

> I Z I I I Z I I I Z I I I Z I I
