Today is my first birthday living away from my parents' home and since it is a different city, no close friends either (just a couple, but they weren't able to hang out with me). Anyway, ask me anything.

Aren't we all?

happy birthday anon
how far is your new city from your hometown?
how you liking it so far?
How old are you now?
Hope you have a nice one regardless

Thanks!
Kinda far, about 800 km.
It's been cool, although I miss my friends and family a lot, it seems I'm slowly getting used to being alone most of the time. And, on a different note, I really want to move to a new apartment.

i feel you, i actually had the opposite happen to me. my parents moved overseas, and my brother and a bunch of close friends moved to new york over the course of a few years. it's cool though, just gives me an excuse to visit the city.
doing anything special for your birthday?

Yeah, first, it really sucks, but then you just go with it.
Came to a little restaurant to have some birthday cake (no chocolate, sadly), spent almost all day in the park. I'm planning to play the new Zelda when I get home. At least I got some really nice presents.

Just know that birthday celebrations are basically created by greeting card companies and over rated because of narcissism. If you are over 12 years old and need a bday party to make you feel worthwhile and that people care.....maybe you should reevaluate your paradigm.
Happy birthday.

Sorry, I guess that's exactly the situation: me realizing that birthday parties aren't that important. I used to think of it as an opportunity to be with everyone I love, like in christmas. At the moment, this is is all very strange to me, but I'll have to accept it.
Thanks, though.
