I don't like the idea of living in a cyberpunk world because I don't like the idea of living inside a giant city, because I already live inside a city and I hate it.

If I had a futuristic location to choose, I'd choose a faraway forest planet (not far enough that there's significant lag between me and earth) and live in the warm part of the planet.

In reality I think I would just live in a VR world that simulates a comfy forest planet.

No I'm just curious. I spent forever trying to find neuromancer in a library. Always missing. Went and got the peripheral instead and holy shit is the writing terrible the first few chapters. It's like it was run through a spell check and not a real editor and the pacing is trying to drag it along quickly while hardly describing anything. This is a mature writer a few books in, there is no way neuromancer is any better written being an earlier book.

I'm starting to really get concerned about the seemingly increasing popularity of it myself.

Cyberpunk societies suck. That's sort of their thing. Life is bleak for the general population. You don't want a cyberpunk future.
>>
>>35371600
I think Descender is a pretty cool comic, its more hard sci-fi , not sure if its necessarily cyberpunk though
>>
>>35371802
Everyone who romanticizes cyberpunk likes to think that if they lived in such a world, they'd be the cool, edgy, super-attractive, super-intelligent anti hero who subverts the oppressive establishment.

In reality, they'd probably be weak, defeated, cubical-monkey wage-slaves like most people.
>>
>>35371802
Exactly.
I use to think more people was better and healthier to get more source material, and spin offs. I think other sci fi like starship troopers just totally proved that wrong where the intellectual property is just hoarded for shitty b movies and shills trying to convince people the satire was so great.

Fortunately most people hate cyberpunk I think repomen from 2010 sort of proved it

Fuck yeah biopunk movies, Carpenters The Thing was pretty biopunk, good flick. One of my favorite directors.
Let's see another one of my favorite directors has done a lot of body horror like biopunk stuff cronenberg. Scanners had a nice cyberpunk/biopunk thing going on, videodrome also now that I think about it even though that would of been the first thing that would of came to mind when I hear biopunk.
Anime of course akira had some of it
Orphan Black is really cyber/bio punk good show if you can get past all the gay man stuff I think it's really one of the only worthwhile t.v. shows around.
Splice was kind of biopunk but I might just be saying that because I want to fuck sara polley

>>35378378
I am anti-transhumanism (for now) or at least highly skeptical. I do not know whatever it could become a thing or not, but time will tell. Maybe I will die before it happens.
My main objection is:
- High probability of modern mistakes getting build into posthumans

If we do changes step by step, individual by individual, it would be fine.

It needs to act like evolution: tinkering and experiment. And a few eggs have to be broken before we make the omelet.

Ask or debate me if you will.

I understand the risks, the trial and errors, new problems etc...

Regardless of any ethical questions/potential problems i think evolution is the only reason we are here to progress to push limits/boundaries

Flying to the moon, human flight, new technologies, the internet, transportation, increasing intellect and superior physiology, we used to live horrible brutish short lives, now we live longer and better. The only sensible and in fact the only real morally just thing to do is to push evolution and science to it's utter limits, relentless maniacally even....

I find the common narrative of a 'good' character struggling against the seemingly impossible odds of corruption and filth in these worlds to be quite entertaining. I am also a big fan of the scifi in general, and the music that I was posting also is enjoyable to me. I'm just a dreamer and by imagining these worlds and consuming media that is related to these ideas I enjoy myself. As for the book, obviously some books are shit to some people and vice versa. Take Ender's Game for an example (yea I know not really cyberpunk) but the point is that I fucking hated the first one, bored me to death. On the other hand I really enjoyed the other books in the series. Ya ain't gonna like every book, but I would suggest you keep giving it a try.

[[ ]] The story goes like this: Earth is captured by a technocapital singularity as renaissance rationalitization and oceanic navigation lock into commoditization take-off. Logistically accelerating techno-economic interactivity crumbles social order in auto-sophisticating machine runaway. As markets learn to manufacture intelligence, politics modernizes, upgrades paranoia, and tries to get a grip.
The body count climbs through a series of globewars. Emergent Planetary Commercium trashes the Holy Roman Empire, the Napoleonic Continental System, the Second and Third Reich, and the Soviet International, cranking-up world disorder through compressing phases. Deregulation and the state arms-race each other into cyberspace.

By the time soft-engineering slithers out of its box into yours, human security is lurching into crisis. Cloning, lateral genodata transfer, transversal replication, and cyberotics, flood in amongst a relapse onto bacterial sex.

Neo-China arrives from the future.

Hypersynthetic drugs click into digital voodoo.

Retro-disease.

Nanospasm.

[[ ]] Beyond the Judgement of God. Meltdown: planetary china-syndrome, dissolution of the biosphere into the technosphere, terminal speculative bubble crisis, ultravirus, and revolution stripped of all christian-socialist eschatology (down to its burn-core of crashed security). It is poised to eat your TV, infect your bank account, and hack xenodata from your mitochondria.

[[ ]] Machinic Synthesis. Deleuzoguattarian schizoanalysis comes from the future. It is already engaging with nonlinear nano-engineering runaway in 1972; differentiating molecular or neotropic machineries from molar or entropic aggregates of nonassembled particles; functional connectivity from antiproductive static.

Philosophy has an affinity with despotism, due to its predilection for Platonic-fascist top-down solutions that always screw up viciously. Schizoanalysis works differently. It avoids Ideas, and sticks to diagrams: networking software for accessing bodies without organs. BWOs, machinic singularities, or tractor fields emerge through the combination of parts with (rather than into) their whole; arranging composite individuations in a virtual/ actual circuit. They are additive rather than substitutive, and immanent rather than transcendent: executed by functional complexes of currents, switches, and loops, caught in scaling reverberations, and fleeing through intercommunications, from the level of the integrated planetary system to that of atomic assemblages. Multiplicities captured by singularities interconnect as desiring-machines; dissipating entropy by dissociating flows, and recycling their machinism as self-assembling chronogenic circuitry.

Converging upon terrestrial meltdown singularity, phase-out culture accelerates through its digitech-heated adaptive landscape, passing through compression thresholds normed to an intensive logistic curve: 1500, 1756, 1884, 1948, 1980, 1996, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2011 ...

Nothing human makes it out of the near-future.
