Same. I did chores and my mom always said payment was helping out the family, while all the other shits I knew got an allowance just for existing.

I didn't mind that after awhile. The one thing that did piss me off though was my mom making me turn our backyard into a rock garden over a summer. It was easily 10 ton worth of rocks that I moved from a giant pile in our driveway to the back yard and arranged them.

Took like a month of 8 hours a day every day except weekends. Never saw that 300$
