It isn't all genetics. A stimulating environment matters, there is a difference between those in stimulating environments and those in poor environments.

When there IS a stimulating environment it all comes down to genetics.

And there might be a difference between creativity and intelligence. Intelligence is necessary for creativity up to a point, after that there is a possibility - that needs to be researched - that intelligence and creativity match eachother out.

Do lots of intellectually stimulating activities, our brain is a muscle, and as such can be trained like one. Also drinking coffee every morning seems to help too, especially with learning new stuff.
Reading of course helps, but only if its actually challenging stuff.
You can also learn memory techniques to boost your ability to store info, and it can actually be fun to learn how to do.
Also just interacting with other intelligent people can make you more intelligent.
