I actually started looking at /b/ when I was a 12-year-old little girl. Another girl on msn sent me a link to the board that somebody had sent to her.
I did not understand how it worked and would spend hours scrolling, not realizing I could even open threads. Once I figured out how to post, I tried it and it gave me such a rush of adrenaline and anxiety that I didn't do it again until I was probably about 15.

Hard to say because it varies by board. First started browsing vp at 14, then /a/ soon after. It wasn't until I was 17 that I started browsing r9k reguarly when I started to realize what a fuck up I am. It fucked me up further because I was still in high school at the time yet I was already redpilled on women and realized I had no future.

Spent most of the time lurking, heard about /b/ back when it was still had its infamy as being the "le super messed up worst corner of the internet sekret club" of the internet and going on there became like a rite of passage between my friends and I, I was too afraid to go on at first, afraid that I was going to get hacked or something or I was going to see puppies getting killed, found out it was indeed gross but pretty lame nonetheless. Posted the phone numbers of some Chads/Stacies and that was that. After that I kinda thought the whole site seemed boring and just went back to Yahoo Answers/the more meme-y side of Facebook and spent every summer holidays, weekend and weeknight there as I was never allowed to see friends, then when I was 13/14 I started hanging out on /mu/, /pol/ and /hm/, got an actual life for a few years, briefly started trying in school, made cool internet friends and was closer with IRL friends than ever, came back when I was 16/17 then it was /r9k/ and /co/ and here we are. I dropped out of high school in 2015 and lost all my friends due to my fucked up life and I swear it's not entirely of my own volition, my parents are just fucked up and abusive, but yeah, then I failed my TAFE course due to mental problems, I've been a true NEET and not just a reclusive loser who's still in school since September or November last year.

I haven't left the house even to go into the backyard for more than an hour in a day in these months, I'm sickly pale to the point where people ask me if I've got something wrong with me, my anxiety is so bad I can't make eye contact with people and have anxiety attacks in relatively uncrowded places and so all I do all day is watch TV, stare at the ceiling and hang out online. I'm lost. I don't want to be a fucking normie either.

I miss those days too. It's really not the same anymore, aside from a few pockets of OK-ness. (Certain /a/ threads have a high oldfag population.)

I was 17 when I found this place and I'm 30 now. It'll always bother me that I'm only a few months short of being a "founder" and am part of the first wave of secondaries instead. At least I got to experience the glory days, I guess.

I've tried to leave, even made it a couple of years without coming more than once or twice a month, but 4chan will never really leave me. There's nowhere else like this and nobody but fellow anons who get it. 4chan gave me an attitude and outlook on the world that really isn't acceptable anywhere else. (And not in the /pol/ sense or anything, just the general irreverence and offensiveness.)
