She literally has the same motivations in the anime and original novel as well, the manga just made it more obvious because Takimoto was pissed that people didn't get it the first time.

The novel came first also in the anime it was out of greed as well, in all versions she just wants someone lower than herself to make herself feel like a better person its just the mangas adaptation made it more obvious. Hell even in the anime hse flat out says Satous as useless person and can only;y survive with her help do you think a person who wants to help someone out of the kindness of their heart would say that to a person, she never wanted him to get better she just wanted him to go lower so she would feel better by comparison.
