/r9k/ is mostly shit right now. The fastest threads are nearly all garbage (race bait, trap threads, gay ERP threads, etc.). Awful fast threads do not ruin a board as long as they do not prevent anything else from getting replies, but generally any threads that require effort or thought to reply to do pretty poorly.
Here are some basic solutions to this:
1) Bump threads you think are good. This is the most important thing to do. If you see a thread and think it's clever or it looks like some effort went into creating it, please bump it. If somebody posts lengthy greentext then, unless it's obvious garbage, bump the thread even if you don't read it. If you have nothing to say, that's fine, but as long as a thread you like is at page 7 or 8 you should try to get it to page 1. A slow thread does not stay slow forever, and each time a thread goes to page 1 it has a chance to gain momentum and enjoy post velocity for a little while. Do not give up on something because it seems dead, most of the catalog seems dead.
2) Do not flame bad threads. Trap threads do so well in large part because people flame them. Everybody who has browsed here for two weeks has heard somebody say that women cannot be robots, or that gender dysphoria is a mental illness, and almost everybody is familiar with the logic behind those statements. Stop participating in five year old flame wars that only shit up the board by keeping absolute garbage on the front page. Ignore or filter bad threads.
3) Try using the catalog. It can be fun to see how threads have evolved, but you are much more likely to find decent OPs on /r9k/ using the catalog, because most things that stick to the first page are damn near awful.
Discuss and post suggestions for making /r9k/ better.

Most of them are probably oldfags.

I'll give you another bump, because you put some thought into your post.
I wouldn't get my hopes up if I was you.

They're definitely not up. If "bump good threads" became a mantra it might make some difference, but trying to change 4chan requires wasting an incredible amount of time, most likely in vain. /r9k/ will probably devolve into a fork of /b/ with slightly better grammar, and it's already fairly close.
It's just frustrating to come back here and see a bunch of meta threads whining about trap spam while actual decent threads only have a handful of replies.
Bumping without shame or remorse.
bumping with shame and remorse, for i am a filthy page 1 refresher

>bumps at page 4
That's not how it's supposed to work.
I'll bump this.
MR9KGA!!!
>bump at page 3
>fuck off and let it get to page 10
Do it towards the end of the catalog, when a thread needs to be bumped.
This board would really benefit from mandatory user names that you could filter by

I don't believe this
"You have been muted for 2 seconds, because your comment was not original"
