Geek culture is retarded. How can anybody at the age above 21 can like comic books, vidya, and cape shit movies? It's so formulaic that it is laughable.

There are people that like mlp. Fucking pathetic.

Now that is a statement that really twists the neurons

Why? I thought they cared about 'friendship and happiness'.

it depends on what you think.

But I still hate these degenerates, I fucking hate them all
>>

Fuck you. Video games are fun.
>>
>>35229197
Yeah, if you're below 21.
>>
>>35226308

vidya is patrician but comic books and capeshit have always been for brain-dead serfs
>>
>>35229234
Enlighten me, why are video games 'patrician'?
>>
I just want to state how much I hate these fucking degenerates
>>
>>35226308
You're right, OP. That shit is for braindead morons.

*watches some anime*
>>
>>35229259
Because they don't deal in a single formulated style the way comics/supercucs do. Diversity my friend.

Super diverse, guys.
>>
>>35226308
I agree, but I still like my horror comics. I keep it on the down low though, I don't talk to anyone about it. That's the only acceptable way to be a geek these days.

Mobile games, social media games, story games, mmos, rts games, mobas, shooters, dating sims, porn games, video game adaptations of board games, ect...

YUP all clearly follow the same formula and are made for exactly the same audience.
>>
>>35226308
It use to be fun, then the normalfags culturally appropriated it.

Shit community. The most autistic people I've seen came from online gaming.

for drastically different audiences. Like Tv shows yes they're all TV but they are made in drastically different styles for different audiences. Unlike super hero crap which is all made for 1 audience in 1 style.

I am agreeable with this commentation

"Geek" culture was replaced by anime a while ago because of the normie appropriation. It's only a matter of time before they completely ruin 2d.

Being a horsefucker, I've never met another fan of the show who wasn't fat, ugly or both.
>>
>>35226308
Dude, these are the new normies. True "nerds" like fucking anime, imageboards, and dwarf fortress nowadays, because they are normie proof for now. Once normies take over those, they'll move onto something else. Nothing that is mainstream like comics or capeshit is "nerdy" and normies who say they are are just attention seeking posers.
>>
>>35230455
Not all of us gloat about it anon, homebody who just secretly enjoys the show

seems like the whole "ironic nerd" culture of the late 2000s and early 10s is starting to die out. These days it seems people who like anime and vidya are associated with neckbeards and trump supporters. not that i'm complaining, i hated the whole "le quirky nerd"shit
>>
>>35226308 (OP)
They are possessing less intelligence and awareness, so strive for less. They plateau at this level of consumption, that forms their identity. Being human they still crave group acceptance and socialization: this is their flag. They can achieve no higher status.
>>
>>35226308
because it has nothing to do with intellectual persuits
its just a circle jerk of pretending to be a part of an intellectual elite they know nothing about
>>
>>35232767
I kinda expected that from Barneyfags to begin with
>>
>>35226308
I still play vidya, but it's not really for the lore. I just enjoy being a part of the action, unlike TV/film/comics.

Only exception I can think of is Taro Yoko's work. Genuinely excited for Nier Automata.
>>
>>35229638
I think its safe to say that others don't really like what you like. They just co opt it and fuck it up. Do people who grew up playing video games daily in the 80s and 90s really give a shit about the newest Madden or CoD? In my experience, no.

>Geek culture
An artificial construct made to sell shit to normies. Trekkies are not the same thing as D&D fans, who in turn are not the same thing as comic book fans, who are not the same thing as gamers, who are not the same thing as horror movie enthusiasts, and so on - yet they are forcibly put under this otherwise pointless umbrella-term. Moreover, the (also artificially created to milk money out of normies) image of this 'culture', the image presented as 'this is a geek', is fetishization of dumb derogatory stereotypes about people who are genuinely into the stuff that is now sold as 'geek' (so, basically blackface).
TL;DR - there's no such thing as 'geek culture'.
>>
>>35226308
>cape shit movies
This is the one I'll never understand. Like, "DURRRR UHH MAYBE UHHH DUERRRRR MAYBE THE SUPER HERO WITH SUPER POWERS WILL WIN IN THE END?=???? MAYBE DURRRR UHHH HE'S THE GOOD GUY AND SUPER POWERFUL MAYBE HE WILL WIN? WHAT WILL HAPPEN?"
>>
>>35234918
Ditto. At least in novels and vidya, you can do everything right, and still lose in the end. That NEVER happens in big budget movies. It is so formulated that there will never be any surprises. There won't even be any real loss in order to gain victory. Like that movie the Avengers. Did anyone REALLY expect the nuke to detonate in Manhattan?
>>
>>35234972
>Did anyone REALLY expect the nuke to detonate in Manhattan?
No. But I wish it would. Another hilariously shitty thing about cape movies is that any morally decent person would just relate more to the bad guy. Imagine being one of the bad guy's henchmen, you're just a normal guy, even if you're special forces trained and 15 years of military experience. And you outnumber the superhero 50:1, and he's still completely unaffected and just fucks you over like it's nothing. How is that fair? I'd want to destroy that fucker too.
>>
>>35235009
I find it better when the hero is actually the villain without realizing it. That video game NieR is a good example.
>>
>>35226308
I think you're thinking about normies, they ruin all niches

Also for the mlp thing, maybe its because of escapism? Internet dwellers want happy nice friends right?
>>
Geek culture is basically consumerism 2.0.

Its more of how they diluted the niches in games that they play. Publishers only care abiut money, and the normies are brainded enough to buy the same gritty edgy fps game every year. They are hedonistic consumers, they probably preorder and use microtransactions as well. They also play on easy mode. A big example is fallout 4, how watered down (and contradicting iirc) it is. Only 4 (poorly done) options per dialogue choice, like 14 different weapons, instant power armor with an ample supply of cores to power it, rehashed story, and its still using that old engine from skyrim iirc. And the normies lapped it up, gave it awards as well. They dont care about the nitty gritty parts of the game, they just want something to be a part of (XD IM A GAMER) and something to mindlessly waste their time on, like TV or something
>>
>>35235234
I have yet to play that game. I stopped playing Fall Out 3 about 10 minutes after leaving the vault. Could just immediately tell that the game wasn't for me.
