I never asked friends or other people about their lives during conversations. Mostly because I don't care about anything and I don't expect them to ask me the same.
That makes me an asshole and I just realized that it might be one of the reasons I feel the way I do. Does anyone else suffer from this?

i do the same thing but didn't realize it. i also don't care but now i make a little effort to ask a couple things about someone to help the flow of conversation and so i don't seem self centered

I've noticed that I basically never "push forward" in a conversation, like even if someone mentions something that would be interesting to hear about the thought doesn't even occur to me until several hours later

But it feels fake if you have to force yourself. Doesn't that drive you crazy that you have to fake such basic things?
