No you just described gambling. If you lose money in stocks you either:

- Bought at a bad time
- Made a bad, risky investment
- Got scared and sold when the first bump happened

All of which are your fault.

Investing is not for everybody. It's a game for people who have a decent amount of money that they can go without for years at a time. If you're living paycheck to paycheck and hoping for a low risk/high reward quick pay off you're going to be disappointed.

Honestly, if you're a newbie to investing don't buy individual stocks in a company, this is more akin to gambling. I'd suggest speaking to a financial planner at your bank and dropping it into a mutual fund for the time being. Mutual funds are like a bunch of different stocks/bonds that the bank manages for you, the downside being that they take a cut on the profits so the returns aren't so great, but you don't have to manage anything.
