Brit robots, I have a question that hopefully you can help me answer.

I am moving to LONDON from abroad (filthy Scandi) for work.
Say I'll earn 20000 quid a year, what does the whole 'Personal Allowance' mean?
Does it mean that the first 9960 quid (or whatever the rate is) of what I earn will NOT be taxed, i.e. is tax-free?
So I'll only pay taxes on the remaining 10xxx quid?

Hope there are some non-NEETS who can help me out. Then I'll buy you a beer when I get there :)

I are grill btw ;)

Who else /insomnia/ here?

I've averaged 4-5 hours of severely broken sleep per night for the last few nights, going to stay up all night tonight then as long as possible in to tomorrow before trying again

Unless you've been through this you will never truly understand what it feels like to be tired

Honestly, if you cut out all caffeine it may make a difference. No tea, coffee or coke. Haven't had any today and ended up sleeping about ten hours rather than my usual six. It's shocking how exhausted you feel without it. Tried to get up at nine like usual. Just couldn't do it. Had to go back to bed.
>>
>>35145861
It's a chronic thing with me m8, caused by an unknown physical problem currently under investigation by hospital specialists, involving severe irritation my digestive system that physically prevents me from sleeping due to the adrenaline and stress hormone release.

Because of the nature of the problem sleeping pills and any other kind of remedy you could think of do not work.

IT's not the weekends you have to worry about, it's when one of the 8 hoursemates in a DJ and parties on wednesday night because he works saturday night.

I believe that people are broken down into component parts, including on a spiritual level. This is in a sense, 'Heaven' - a sort of pool of energy waiting to be distributed. Probably quite serene but nothing distinct - no identity nor ego - exists there. Then, it's funneled back into other projects. Perhaps as an object, perhaps as flesh, perhaps as a new soul. It's all just recycled.

Genuinely wish they'd legalize assisted suicide.

I wouldn't care what they did to disability benefits if I knew that once I had "no other option", I could just go lie back in a chair and die. It's the uncertainty that gets me. Certain death would be fucking brilliant, it's the idea of slowly dying of a cough on the streets in the pissing rain that gets me down. Or the idea of not knowing week-on-week if the JSA lady is going to be a fucking bitch and ruin everything.

Take away the uncertainty and you'd make my life blissful. But no, you want me to take on debt, to fight. Fuck you.

would be better than dying and not existing. i think it would be quite interesting. dont think i would tell people about 911 or anything like that, mostly because the government would think im involved or from the future. going through primary school, and high school would be weird because i wouldent be able to talk with them on a relate level and the adults would think of me as some weird child-man. not saying im smart but obviously because of the knowledge i already have i would be able to excel at school and maybe be sent to one of them special schools for gifted children

None of that. Make it clear and honest, if you want to bring the bill down then legalize it and kill off all the burdens. At least Aktion T4 was upfront.

They won't though, because suicide is already ridiculously common amongst working age people. At least some of them can see that the game is rigged and it's time to stop playing.

>tfw until 1973, the primary aim of government policy was full employment for those able
>tfw wages for the poorest rose the fastest
>tfw the neoliberals came along and ruined everything
Look at nearly any chart, any chart at all for living standards in this country - income inequality, personal debt, council house construction, unemployment, house prices, current account deficit* you'll see the same trends: In the 70s things often get a bit wobbly. In the 80s they get worse, and they stay hellish or get worse through the 90s and 2000s. Since the 2008 crash, the incomes of the poorest have been declining in real terms for the first sustained period since WW2.

The exception is inflation, and that's because inflation was the excuse used to change all the other policies even though it was 90% caused by the shock of having the oil price shoot up in 1973. Even then, RPI inflation in the months heading up to Thatcher's resignation was just as bad as it was when she took power. And this is global - it's the same basic story across all western countries. Hell, the Euro was created to make sure governments couldn't go back on it.

*this isn't the deficit the government talks about - that's the budget deficit and doesn't mean much because borrowing costs are ridiculously low right now. The current account deficit is how much we buy from other countries vs how much we sell to other countries. From 1950 to 1971 countries and the IMF worked together to make sure it was always around zero - countries bought and sold about the same amount, equal trade. The last time we had a current account surplus was in 1986. It's been totally ignored, even though it's far more important than the budget deficit.

2008 should have fixed all this, but it didn't. They propped the whole thing up.
Hopefully in the next crash that won't be an option, or we're all dead.

My friend works in planning, he says there's a housing shortage because it's ultimately up to the local council members to decide how many houses get built that year in each area and since they don't wanna piss off home owners who vote they always approve the bare minimum.

So you can't afford a house because some old fart wants one more year in his cushy job.

3. They're just crotchety old cunts who laugh about renting out a house they bought for 60k way back when to people on short leases for ridiculous money

My friend told me about that last one in detail, they laughed about the fact they could evict their tennant with a months notice.

Eh, all parties are to blame. Tories for introducing right to buy (what the fuck is the point of councils building houses they're just going to have to sell at a loss?), New Labour for being too timid to repeal it.
Scotland could be interesting because if I remember right the SNP did repeal it.

But alas, all politicians believe the same thing, when it comes to neoliberalism...

We need 250,000 houses a year currently, we import 500,000 people a year, in like 2 years of not importing we wouldn't even have to make any more houses than we normally do to have a surplus because people die/leave.
>>
>>35147809
Selling them would have been okay if they just kept at least trying to build enough, no government has really tried for so long. Now the private building market is fucked and they dont build enough for their own profit margins and to keep prices high.

Housebuilding remains about static regardless of immigration.
>>

lots of the overall immigration numbers you cant really stop (or should not) if you include foreign students in that etc. though of course net immigration being so high does not help at all.
>>
>>35147719
No, it's because the government has retarded rules that discourage developers.

Just last week my friend told me about a developer saying "we wanna build 6 houses" and the council had some retarded rule about green space or affordable housing and the developer went "fine fuck you, we'll only build 2 houses then"
>>
>>35147864
We need to start making good houses again, not the shitty match boxes with even smaller gardens that we currently erect on shitty land.

My house was built 90 years ago and back then it was considered small, but its massive compared to some of today's houses.

A relative recently purchased a new 4 bed 3 bathroom build yet the garden is smaller than our driveway!
>>
>>35147913
Private developers are useless unless you have rent controls or council housing to put a price floor on the thing.
(Or abolish housing benefit if you want to be utterly draconian and send homelessness skyrocketing. At the moment it's nothing but a subsidy for buy-to-let.)
>>
>>35147864
>we import 500,000 people a year
not all of them stay, a lot of just students
>>
>>35147913
you see i have seen most things to the contrary, being the real issue is the developers and greenbelt and housing regulations not actually being the issue. Only remembering stuff but from some reports and journal articles etc.

yes, but people tend to vote for MPs of certain parties with the idea that the government will be led by a certain individual

if the certain individual who leads the country changes, then people don't get any say on policy changes that will arise with that
it's really shitty

>>

It's really not.

He's spent the last few years day in day out dealing with this shit on both sides of the fence. Deciding whether someone gets planning permission and helping someone get planning permission.

So I trust him when he tells me the reason houses don't get built isn't because of private companies trying to keep prices high in this big conspiracy, it's old farts in councils trying desperately to cling to their cushy job, it's retarded government policies from people who don't know the planning system or how it works, it's a backlog of applications so huge councils hire contractors at 35 quid an hour to help them get through it and sometimes you just get a cunt of a planning officer who'll refuse your application because for whatever reason he wants to and he'll find a legal excuse to tell you to go fuck yourself.

It's an important thing, though. Think of the Kinnock effect (people won't elect a party with good policies if the leader is a twat.)

It's rather annoying. Since May is in power power will "rub off" on her, when if she'd had to fight an election herself without having been in power in advance (say she was leader in 2010) she'd probably have been BTFO for being the more autistic weirdo of the two candidates.

Private companies don't conspire to keep prices high. The government does.
If private companies could build as many houses as they wanted, we'd still be in a similar situation because people would just buy them up and rent them out at stupid prices.

Unless you introduce rent controls or build more council houses (and end right to buy) it doesn't matter how many houses the private sector builds, the problem won't go away.
>>
>>35147990
>>35148097

I sure love living in post industrial Britain

>Thatcher closed mines in the 80's
>sent an entire generation of working class people onto the dole
>almost 100% unemployment in some villages
>nothing to replace to lost industry
>whole towns fall into disrepair
>entire soul ripped out of the midlands & the north
>people lost their sense of identity
>unemployed bitter people turn to alcohol to cope
>unemployed bitter alcoholic parents give birth to next generation
>next generation has literally nothing to aspire to
>go on dole like their parents
>no art, culture, music, education
>bored kids turn to petty crime
>petty crime leads to drugs
>almost all of the post industrial north is a breeding ground for delinquent drug addicts who have nothing to live for except going on the dole

>globalisation destroyed the rest of what little industry we had left
>slash social care
>wages stagnated since the 70's
>houses cost 10x your income
>rent for life from boomers

I'm 29 and have no savings or pension. No hope for the future. What hope is there for my generation? From where I'm sitting. Being a NEET is the best thing I can ever aspire to be.

I'd be living to work just so I could be poor and then have to thank them for the opportunity.

At what stage does it cross from being a sexual fantasy into being gay?

I'm all into the cock thing and I'd be romantic with a guy but nothing longterm. I don't think I would feel love in the longterm relationship sense with a guy cause theres no point if you can't have children

lad i felt the exact same when i was talking about some of my problems

i got thrown out into the street by my mum and grandmother and i've only just got a flat after months in homeless shelters

a few people were sympathetic but most took the piss out of me because of the reason i got chucked out (not important what it is, but it could have happened to anyone here)

bottom line is, there are some good lads on here but also a lot of dicks.

Where's the category for only liking female bodies and wanting to have a female body?
>>
>>35149849
Liking traps doesn't make you gay. Liking masculine features makes you gay, so if the only difference between a trap and a woman is the dick then being into a trap isn't gay.
You can't see the genitals of a person when they're clothed but you still feel attraction, there's no way for you to know if it's a trap or not.

If you're into shemales and like them a bit masculine, then you are gay, probably a 4.

That's why long running tv shows are better. Once you start, you're in for the long haul. Especially with Law & Order, which started collectively in 1989 and still runs to this day.

Recently moved to Manchester and although I love the city, it's ridiculously lonely. I'm like 29 years old so it's really hard to meet new people, and the ones I meet through work don't really seem to have much in common with me.

I wouldn't mind meeting up with some 4chan lads, maybe having them round for some dinner and drinks, maybe some Mario Kart or whatever. I have a nice flat and I'm not too bad at putting on a spread.

Do you think this could ever happen in britfeel or is it most likely to be a complete failure? I just want some friends I have something in common with, who aren't dirty students.

I have to stay in London for brief periods occasionally and it genuinely makes me want to kill myself. I say this as a northerner though - I imagine it's amazing if you're a southerner.

Well jelly of you owning a place there though - you're essentially set financially.

So, basically single-played Evolve but with robots or a Far Cry Primal clone set in the distant future.

Also, I think Tomb Raider would be improved with robots rather than the functioning but boring tosh we got instead...

this is standard for nintendo though, Gamecube and Wii only had about 10 (this isn't surprising when Nintendo are the only company who make games for the thing).

They're usually good enough to justify owning the console but to compare it to some other systems is ridiculous.

My mum only went abroad for the first time when she was in her mid-fifties, as my dad is terrified of travelling and doesn't like her going away by herself. This time she has gone away with her sisters who don't like anything foreign, so Benidorm was a cheap option.

I highly doubt she's chugging the jaegers as we speak but knowing my mum, it's a possibility. Last time she went away, some guy ran her over and she was unconscious in the road until 4am. She's a bloody liability. I'd rather just not know what she's up to.

I've done the whole Benidorm club experience thing with friends and we all enjoyed ourselves.

Only because we ignored our travel guide and did our own thing. By the day, lounging round the pool, getting sun-burnt at the beach, segwaying in the town or countryside. And by night, went to expat bars and pubs and then went clubbing in clubs not filled by drunk English slags.
