Well I would post my toes but I'm at work and have heavy boots on and shit.

It happens mostly when I'm playing video games, I get shot dead and pissed off so I start to nibble without thinking. I mostly pull agaisnt my toenails to get the good feelings associated but it eventually isnt enough and I bite and tear a piece off.

Writing this now, I see how horrible this sounds. I don't know, it's just something I do.

A lot of the time it starts unconsciously. I don't even notice until part way through biting off the nail, and by then it's already too late and it feels so good.

If I do manage to catch myself before I have done any damage it's still an intense urge. I assume it is similar to the urge to smoke cigarettes in smokers

I would say yes and might indicate mental illness. now I can't really talk either but mine look perfect because I trim and cut my nails daily for years. never bit them ever. matter of fact for my birthday a couple weeks ago a cousin bought me a nail grooming kit thing and clear nail hardening shit. it's okay to trim your nails but biting them to shit is disgusting

My big toes are fucked up because of it. I would go digging into the inner edge and now it's swollen and red. I come home after a day of being out and see it caked with some dry blood. Not to mention it hurts a lot and smells bad now. I need help.

I keep getting little skin tags around my nails. If I quit biting them off will they eventually heal and go away? It's been a never ending cycle.

If I had the choice of having a 10/10 gf at the expense of not biting my nails anymore I'd drop that bitch like a ton of bricks. It's not disgusting and I scratch myself if I just cut them with clippers. I'm biting my nails my since I'm 3, and really started with 6, when my father went to prison. I's some kind of compulsive self destructing behavior. I'm hatting it, but it's an addiction, Imagine someone who is a heavy smoker and wants to quit, but he can't, because he can always light a cigarette without noticing it the first couple of seconds.

My fingers look exactly like these and have done since I was like, 8, back in the 90s. Quitting smoking was easier than giving up nail-biting. I just do that shit without thinking all the time.
