Kind of. I don't think they're all baby killers or something, but I've got a cousin who's with the RAF and volunteered for their foot regiment who very clearly just wanted to shoot guns at shit. That's what I imagine most soldiers to be like, and that's basically fine, but I'm not going to get a big, patriotic, hard on for them.

And even though I've endless love and respect for world war veterans, I do think that Bomber Command were all war criminals.
>>
>>35059352
No, I respect the general idea but the fact I'm expected to respect every person in the army is ridiculous. Who cares if they murdered innocent civilians and possibly children, "they did to protect your country! They're protecting you from terrorism that they are ultimately fueling!" If soldiers were conscripted like in WW1 and 2 I'd have more respect for them but I'm not going to treat wor Gazza from the council estate a hero because he joined the army after flunking his GCSEs. I don't even wear poppies anymore because of this, why should I support someone that just wants a paycheck and fights for a simple corporation. I respect veterans of the world wars because they were forced into it, made to fight a war that was actually a threat. I know this is going to piss some people off, hell not wearing a poppy when I was in retail surely did

What do you lads reckon to Milo getting distanced from Breitbart? His comments were a bit ripe in my opinion, and it seems to me that he still has issues that want sorting out. He described how he was abused on Joe Rogan's show, but he didn't acknowledge it as abuse. Small wonder that it led to him inhaling BBC like a vacuum, engaging in attention seeking behaviour and ultimately, condoning abuse. It's a shame but that does often happen. Especially when abuse goes unprocessed or is denied.

Justifying it as an 'age of consent' is weird though.

To imply that a 15 year old and a 3 year old both have an equal inability to consent is a bit off.

If GCHQ is reading this I don't condone anything in this post. This is simply a belief held by some people
>>
>>35059670
I disagree. Even within legal limits, it makes people uncomfortable. Especially gay stuff. Plus I definitely think that kind of relationship will alter a young man's development, if not cause permanent damage outright.

>>35059604
I don't think it's true that most support it, but I do think that young men are fetishized. Homosexuality shouldn't be 'corrected' since such a thing is impossible. However, it should be acknowledged as unfortunate and as a dysfunction warranting therapy.

but for more or less all of our history we have been fucking people of about 14. 13 was the legal age in the uk until about 100 years ago and it was only changed to 16 in order to to deter young women from becoming prostitutes. the only reason we as a society have changed our mind is because of the emerging rhetoric surrounding the innocence of childhood. im not saying it should be changed but as a society we are quick to judge because i know most people would fuck a 14 year old regardless of the consequences if it was socially acceptable.

>causes permanent damage

dont know. lots of people have sex in their young teens and they are fine, as i said, it has been going on for most of our history. people become sexual beings in their early teens. the main reason it should be condemned is to prevent teenage pregnancy and underage sex work.
>>
>>35059777
>the fella probably would of changed his mind about a lot of things if he lived longer

If you are implying that being irreligious is the result of maturity, then you're wrong.

If you look at religion in a purely intellectual way, the only logical conclusion to come to is the belief that the existence of god is inherently unknowable.

At this point, you can either choose to believe in god or choose not to. Atheists make as much of a logical assumption as theists do.

Given that Christians claim to experience contact with god through the holy spirit, then there is no way for a Christian to justify their position on a purely logical sense because they can't make someone else experience the holy spirit. It's like trying to get a blind man to see. They can only prove it to themselves.

Equally, an atheist can't disprove the existence of god to someone that has experienced him through the holy spirit.

tl;dr - Debating the existence of god is pointless. Both sides share the same logical fallacies.

People naturally develop to have sex younger when life expectancy is lower. In modern society where life expectancy is higher, people develop later (mentally and emotionally) to compensate. The age of consent reflects that. In Victorian times boys may have jobs and an adult mindset out of necessity by 14, and girls were ready to be homemakers. Now, men scarcely feel grown until 25. It's a natural consequence of a longer lifespan and an overpopulated society.
>>
>>35059934

>People naturally develop to have sex younger when life expectancy is lower.

i dont know because plenty of people i knew in high school were having sex, and the life expectancy in Victorian times was around 70 if someone lived past 5. lots of kids in the victorion era died in the streets due to industrial act prevting low class kids from working and in consequence making families unable to provide for them. people probably did feel more mature back then though, i agree with that, mostly because they were expected to grow up faster, childhood wasnt really a concept or only just emerging, but i would argue that people were probably less sexually developed because of christian values.
>>
>>35059953
>but for more or less all of our history we have been fucking people of about 14
this meme again, people believe it but it's not entirely true. case study Margaret Beaufort; the mother of Henry VII, she was 13 when she gave birth to Henry and this was considered extraordinary and very controversial and more importantly;
>The birth was particularly difficult; at one point, both the Countess and her child were close to death, due to her young age and small size. She would never give birth again.[10]
>>
>>35059992
im not talking about his religious beliefs. im talking about his philosophies, and general perspective on the world. the fellas was only 33 as i have said, have you seen how much philosphers change their minds and they grow and develop? its likely jesus would of too. not saying he would of been religious but he might not of been so "peaceful".
>>
>>35060153
Either way, maturity is key here. People simply aren't mature enough to be having sex young these days. Their minds can't handle it.

It's kind of a shame that Western society has turned it's back on specifically Christianity. Sure, not every single Christian is saint saint, but nobody is. There are lots of Christians that do good thing because they are motivated by faith.

There's also plenty of smart people that come to the logical conclusion of the existence of god because they want to live in a world of meaning (I'm not implying belief in god is the ONLY logical conclusion).

around the 60s because of all the liberal freedom movements, was when Christianity lost its grip on western society, and society became all edgy and rebellious.

i feel like people have become more nihilistic because they dont believe in Christianity anymore. i can see the positives in a way, more people are encouraged to get into science but a lot of morality was taught through Christianity. it is wrong when people judge someone straight away for being christian some incredibly smart people have been Christians such as fyodor dostoevsky

i have only known one proper christian guy when i was 18, in college, and unfortunately he was a bit of a dick, and a bully.

>i feel like people have become more nihilistic because they dont believe in Christianity anymore

Agreed. When you realise that without religion morality is 100% objective, you realise how important a foundation of common beliefs is in society. Religious belief on an individual level isn't always important, but it is on a societal level

I feel like in the next few decades there's going to be a serious moral crisis among atheist societies, as people begin to share less and less common values, since they are built on an arbitrary framework. We are probably just about okay now because most people share Christian values and traditions through their upbringing, even if they don't know it.

I'm going on holiday in a few weeks but other than that I'm not really sure what to do. I basically went from 45 hours a week for 2 years to unlimited free time. I haven't dealt with the change well desu. So lazy now that I don't have to be on the clock. Been trying to get a bit organised, hopefully that'll help.

How's your job and writing going? Unless I'm getting mixed up.

Why you so interested in my shoes lad
>>
>>35064254
Not getting mixed up at all, your memory's good. The job is the same as ever, but I think I'm getting bored of it. I have two problems when it comes to any job I find; I never get on with my managers and I always get bored really quickly. It's comfy and it's easy money, but my life consists of going to work as soon as I wake up and going to sleep as soon as I get home. Can't be doing that forever.
The writing is going badly. I just can't find my groove, I want to keep working on it but I'm overcome with contempt for it as soon as I open it up to continue. I think I need someone I trust to read over it, but I don't know anybody I trust enough to be honest with me and not trample my spirit in the process. Hopefully it's just the winter funk though, and I'll find the mojo again when the sun comes out.

Where are you going on holiday? A little getaway might help you out.
I also found that getting into a new hobby kept me sane while I was between jobs, I started making cassette tapes and designing the labels/case inserts for them. Nobody would ever buy them, but it kept me busy.
>>
The things I'd do for a normal sleeping pattern
>>
>>35064486
Ah suppose most jobs get boring. Its a shame about the hours you work. If it was a moderate amount it'd probably be a lot more manageable. Could try starting a new project with the writing? To take your mind off whatever you're currently working on. Maybe when you come back to it'll seem a lot easier and you can bring a fresh perspective to it. Yea I'm hoping the same about the sun. Used to enjoy the winter but as I've gotten older it just depresses me.

I'm going to Japan. Should be interesting. I'm mainly looking forward to trying all of the food. I haven't been on a holiday in 5 years so some new scenery will be nice. Yea, a hobby could be good. I might try drawing, that's always seemed appealing.
>>
>>35065342
Japan sounds like a good time. I've been watching Midnight Diner on netflix and it's making me want to go too. Make the most of it lad, maybe you'll catch the wanderlust and find yourself wanting to go all over the place. Money spent on time you enjoyed is never money wasted.

If you want to pick up drawing, I can't recommend Andrew Loomis enough. He's basically the authority on illustration, and although his books have been out of print for ages, you can download them easily enough. Go to alexhays dot com slash loomis to download a set of PDF copies of all his guidebooks, they'll set you down the right path.

Don't be intimidated, most of all. Have fun with it.
>>
>>35065714
Yea true enough, I'm sure it'll be worth the money. I'll have to check out midnight diner, never heard of it. I watched lost in translation recently. Considered staying in the hotel Bill Murray goes to but I checked the price and it's 600 a night hah.

Thanks for the acvice with the drawing. I'll have to check these PDFs out, in the past I've basically just drawn what I saw. Be nice to have a guide kinda. Anyway I'm finally off to bed. Good luck with the rest of your shift, not long left now.
>>
>>35065994

week after week, month after month, year after year

getting a job ain't easy lads, but even if i did manage to get past the interview stage, i wonder if i could even handle the responsibility of a full-time job at this point
>>
>>35067160
It's an adjustment, it can seem scary. But get through the first coupple of days and you'll settle into a new routine. One that doesn't involve wallowing in your own filth quite as often
>>
>>35067202
it's not filth i wallow in, just self-pity

i couldn't even handle a low-responsibility, 40/hr week admin position without getting burnt out after a year though - and that was before i spent years as a NEET
>>
>>35067160
Here's something I've learned about myself whilst interviewing; if I go in with the mindset that I won't get the job, I become completely relaxed and feel in charge the whole way through. I don't know why it works for me desu, but maybe it will work for you?
>>
>>35067160
I always feel this way after I've started a new job, but I truly do believe in the saying "the first day is the hardest."

Usually on the first day, you're being trained, being introduced to everyone (and forgetting their names immediately), shown the layout of the building, forced into doing something you are by no means ready to do, and you're exhausted right after lunch because your adrenaline has been pumping like mad since you got up and now that you've had a meal, your body is going into recovery mode 4 hours earlier than you need it to. First days are shite. Things almost never get worse than that first day anon, just suck it up and make it to the end of the first week. You wont want to quit once the money starts coming in

>>35067288
I've done that before, and I also got the job. Applied for a security position when I was completely hammered, and forgot about the whole thing until 2 weeks later I get a call asking if I could come in that day for an interview. I had about 3 hours to kill, so I did research on the company, shat out a cover letter, and went into the interview basically blind
>>
>>35067160
Got an interview on Friday shit it's tomorrowso don't worry lad, you ain't the only one leaving NEETdom. Thankfully it's only part time, I don't think I could handle working 40 hours a week

just been having a think.

what conditions did the African slaves live in before they were bought? obviously Africans only would of sold lower class individuals so im wondering if they would of even had better lives before they were bought. and isnt it possible that the suffering they went through with regards to being slave actually improved the lives of their children because africa was extremely under developed? everyone other race had to go through extreme hardships, while blacks in first world countries only had to suffer for a few hundred years before they had the same opportunities as a race that spend thousands of years suffering.

i dont condone slavery but this is just something i have been thinking about.
>>

yeah, lots of races have went through slavery at some point. some Germanics were sold as slaves back in the roman era for example. and it wasnt the entire black population, it was just a select few, and only high class people had them, like it has always been with slaves. take the ancient greeks, they were always selling each other as slaves. im pretty sure us britons were sold as slaves too. pretty much every race, or i would at least say most, have been sold as slaves at some point, it just think its a bit ignorant when black people speak as though they were the only race to experience slavery.

So when we leave the EU are we gonna get double taxed on everything we buy from the EU?

It's called the Seagull 1963. It's a reproduction of a run of 1,000 watches made in 1963 for the Chinese airforce for fighter pilots to wear. Made to the same design, the same parts on the same equipment in the same factory as the original.

They cost 200 euro.

Seagull is a Chinese watch company, they were originally owned by the Chinese government when they produced the original watch in 1963.

The black one is not original spec.

The leather strap one is a bit overpriced for just a leather strap. It's 30 euros for a 10 quid strap. Although it is an official Seagull branded strap.

I bought the one on the green strap then immediately replaced it with a leather strap I had spare. Remember to pay the extra 24 euro for the glass back so you can see the gears n shit.

You're probably thinking of the Poljot Strela.

The original movement from both these watches were made by a Swiss company called Venus in the 1950s.

However, Russia knocked off a movement called the Venus 150.

China actually purchased the design and tooling required to make the Venus 175 movement legally.

http://www.poljot24.de/en/strela-chronograph.html

And you're getting an unlicensed clone of a Venus 150 movement build from slavs looking and copying.

The Seagull ST19 movement in the 1963 Chinese watch is a licenced production of the Venus 175, a better movement, made with the original designs and tooling purchased from Switzerland.

You're basically getting the same movement that was in Breitling and Omegas from the 1950s

>When you realise that without religion morality is 100% objective, you realise how important a foundation of common beliefs is in society. Religious belief on an individual level isn't always important, but it is on a societal level
And yet, despite all Christians believing in the same God, with all the different sects and beliefs within Christianity people's morality is still very much a spectrum. There are Christians who justify murder, others who say turn the other cheek ect.

been wondering this when i go back to uni for the 10th time
should i just shitpost in the common room without saying much, being really blatantly autistic, or should i go back to the good ol' "eat after midnight and stay in your room all day" routine?

not being a fucking sperg isn't an option because i tried that already and it was a complete waste of time.

although i assume it's because they're used to watching telly with their family in the main room, whereas i've been in my room alone for nearly a decade.

I have this weird, almost fanclub type thing going on at uni, where a group of girls talk about me and repeat every last joke I make to each other, no matter how insignificant. One messages me daily saying "Just saw you in the street, you looked angry!", or "Heard you matched with XYZ's ex on Tinder!"

It's literally every day of my life and I'm at my wit's end. I rarely hang out with these dunderheads, and yet they seem to be obsessed with monitoring me and my movements.

yeah, same here, just been a few incidents in the past because someone has said something, and one of my mates said something back. dont really see chavs as much these days of a night, and if i do, they normally dont say anything. i would probably would just beat up the chavs now if they done anything unless there was way too many or they had a knife. chavs are normally really skelly, and cant fight.

honestly im really worried for this game, i just have this bad feeling that kojima is going to be too ambitious with it and the hype train is going to end up crashing into reality

all of those together are pretty unique to fallout and it's probably the most popular example of that type game
also you're reading too much into it, im not saying he's making a game literally exactly the same mechanically, but it sounded pretty similar to me

only when you factor in being able to talk your way out of situations, which kojima didn't even say

there are a plethora of other games that involve an open world with freedom of choice and lots of fighting, it's all well and good that you see similarities with fallout but it's a far cry from indicating a fallout clone
