The only part that hit me is poverty

My dad left when I was a kid because he cheated on my mom
He's still around, I see him occasionally but he was never there when I actually needed him. He doesn't support us financially either, and my mom is dirt poor.
I've moved out since and don't really talk to either of my parents, but having to teach myself to be a man isn't exactly easy.
Been looking for an image like this for ages, thanks op
Although I do remember there being a good one with a black background postedhere if anyone has it
I was raised by my single Mum from age 4 onwards, and she had an abusive boyfreind who bashed both of us when I was in my tweens. Since my teenage years I resumed contact with my father and fly down to see him about once a year.
I reckon it has disadvantaged me because my mother sheltered me and I don't have any positive male role models in my life so I honestly find it hard trying to work out how to become a man and grow up.

OP here, i agree. I find myself going through phases of idolizing various types of men, then later on seeing the folly of their ways and outgrowing them
