The optimism of the late 90s died, now we're stuck with the nightmare of Islamic terrorism and economic slowdown

People started using the internet more and learned how shit everyone else was

The 90s had

>Better economy
>Genuine social interaction/relationships
>Internet was an interesting new frontier
>Nobody knew what a Muslim was or even cared about Islam
>Less racial tensions
>Europe wasn't being flooded with invaders

In the 2010s we have

>Permanent recession and endless war
>Relationships forever, irreversibly damaged by phones, Facebook and Twitter
>Terrorism slowly becoming an accepted part of life in the West, same way public shootings and mass surveillance became accepted
>Islam and "diversity" being forced everywhere
>White people being demonized 24/7 in media

Some of it is just nostalgia glasses but the 90s were a much, much better decade overall than now. I'd even take the early '00s over now.
2020s will be even worse than this decade, BTW. Don't get your hopes up.
