Not have it this bad but my toe is always so painful if I knock it slightly. Fucking hate this shit.

yeah the infection is bad enough that you might need to soak your foot in epson salt or take a mild antibiotic. if you want to operate on yourself, get tweezers and try to pull the nail out. honestly though it might need to be cut out with a scapel and in that case you'd need to go to a doctor. Idk where you are, but if you're in the US, urgent care would be like 100 bucks and like 5 bucks for the antibiotics

Yeah its an ingrown toenail, the build up on the left of the cuticle is dead skin and inflammation. Its possible that situation has also led to a fungal infection. If you don't want to see a doctor, do the following:

>sterilize a pair of sharp scissors.
>begin to cut the growth from the healthy tissue, remember to cut very lightly to begin with and not deeply.
>once the growth is removed, sterilize the area with an agent like iodine.
>you should now be able to see the original 'break' in the skin - that is, where the cuticle and skin surrounding the nail have diverged (creating the growth in the first place).
>wedge a small piece of cotton wool that has been treated with iodine in between the break, replace periodically until it has patched.
>Keep trimming the are with sterilized scissors in the meantime.

As I said its possible the nail has a fungal infection as well which are notoriously difficult to get rid of. If that is the case, you will have to see a doctor to obtain the appropriate drugs anyway.

OP please listen to me, my toe looked exactly like this a few years back.
Go see a doctor immideately. If you wait longer the has to get removed entirely.

Also, dont let the nail removed, it will just grow back in. Ask your doctor for a foot specialist. They can cure this without removing anything.

You need surgical evacuation of the pus and a course of antibiotics or you're going to lose your toe, maybe your whole foot if you ignore that shit
You probably can't get a podiatrist appt on short notice, but the ER can patch it up too.
You can also do it yourself if you have liquor, tweezers and a small knife.

Sounds like an ingrown toenail, go see a doctor.

Or alternatively if you don't like / can't afford doctors, soak your foot in hot saltwater (as hot as you can get without suffering burns), then use scissors and tweezers to pry up the side of the nail (make sure you pry up the whole thing) and cut it longways (if you imagine a line pointing away from your body, parralel to that).

Make sure it's perfectly straight or the nail will grow back ingrown again. You should (if possible) also file the cut edge to get rid of any jaggie parts that can lead to a new ingrown edge.

This is advice my doctor gave me btw, and it did solve my ingrown nail problem. He said that if this didn't work they'd have to remove the nail and destroy the nail bed so it couldn't grow back, so give this a try first.

Soak it in hot water for like an hour a day then put some sudocream or Vaseline on it and bandage it
this might make it go down to normal then you just cut the nail properly and you don't need to go to doctor
